9: The critical storage height for high -piled combustible stock in closely packed piles is 12 feet. (UFC 9.110) Storage
above 12 feet may necessitate increasing the sprinkler density to extra hazard and adding smoke removal capabilities.

12: High -piled combustible storage is combustible materials in closely packed piles more than 12 feet in height or
combustible materials on pallets or in racks more than 12 feet in height. For certain special- hazard commodities such
as rubber tires, plastics, some flammable liquids, idle pallets, etc., the critical pile height may be as low as 6
feet. (UFC article 2, sec. 209 -H)

multiple row racks. Random variations in the width of flue spaces or in their vertical alignment shall be permitted.

All configurations utilize beams with the same cross section. The first occurrence
of long beams is in the Type 2 configuration. The heaviest loading for this beam is
in the Type 3 configuration at 1890 lbs. per shelf. Please note that Types 2 & 3
actually store loads that span from the back rack row to the front.
This beam is designated "IBX40096" by the manufacturer. The beams are a 4" high
by 2 wide tubular step beam of 16 gage (0.060) material. The manufacturer has

Based on the above, you are hereby advised to:
• Call the City Of Tukwila Permit Center at (206) 431 -3670 to arrange for the next or final
inspection.
This inspection is intended to determine if substantial work has been accomplished since issuance of the permit
or last inspection; or if the project should be considered abandoned.
If such determination is made, the Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve a one -time
extension up to 180 days. Extension requests must be in writing and provide satisfactory reasons why
circumstances beyond the applicants control have prevented action from being taken.
In the event you do not call for the above inspection or request and receive an extension prior to January 3,
2004, your permit will become null and void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and
associated fees.
