2: The attached set of plans have been reviewed by The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following
concerns:
4: Clear access to fire extinguishers is required at all times. They may not be hidden or obstructed. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.5)
5: Gates and barriers shall be openable without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. Gates and barriers in
an exit shall not be locked, chained, bolted, barred, latched or otherwise rendered unopenable at times when the
building or area served by the exit is occupied. (UFC 1208.2)
6: Gates and barriers installed across an exit shall be of sufficient size as to be capable of opening so that the clear
width of the opening is not less than the exit width required by the Building Code. (UFC 1208.3)
7: Aisles leading to required exits shall be provided from all portions of buildings. Aisles located within an accessible
route of travel shall also comply with the Building Code requirements for accessibility. (UFC 1204.1)
8: Exits shall be illuminated any time the building is occupied with light having an intensity of not less than 1 foot
candle at floor level. Fixtures required for exit illumination shall be supplied from separate sources of power for
Group I, Division 1.1 and 1.2 occupancies and for all other occupancies where the exiting system serves an occupant
load of 100 or more. (UBC 1003.2.9, 1003.2.9.2)
9: All exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. To ensure continued illumination for a duration of not less than 1
1/2 hours in case of primary power loss, the exit signs shall also be connected to an emergency electrical system
provided from storage batteries, unit equipment or an on site generator set, and the system shall be installed in
accordance with the electrical code. (UBC 1003.2.8.5)
10: Maintian sprinkler coverage per N.F.P.A. 13. Addition /relocation of walls, closets or partitions may require relocating
and /or adding sprinkler heads.
11: All new sprinkler systems and all modifications to existing sprinkler systems shall have fire department review and
approval of drawings prior to installation or modification. New sprinkler systems and all modifications to sprinkler
systems involving more than 50 heads shall have the written approval of the W.S.R.B., Factory Mutual, Industrial Risk
Insurers, Kemper or any other representative designated and /or recorgnized by the City of Tukwila, prior to submittal
to the Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau. No sprinkler work shall commence without approved drawings. (City Ordinance
#1901)
12: Sprinkler protection shall be extended to all areas where required, including all enclosed areas, below obstructions
and under overhangs greater than four feet wide. (NFPA 13 -4- 5.5.3.1)

14: All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of the Tukwila Fire
Prevention Bureau. No work shall commence until a fire department permit has been obtained. (City Ordinance #1900) (UFC
1001.3)
15: Call the Tukwila Fire Department at 575 -4407 for approval of any system shut down. Have job site address, name and
Tukwila Fire Department Job Number available to confirm shut down approval. (City Ordinance #1900)
16: All electrical work and equipment shall conform strictly to the standards of The National Electrical Code. (NFPA 70)
17: This review limited to speculative tenant space only - special fire permits may be necessary depending on detailed
description of intended use.
18: Any overlooked hazardous condition and /or violation of the adopted Fire or Building Codes does not imply approval of
such condition or violation.
19: These plans were reviewed by Inspector 512. If you have any questions, please call Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau at
(206)575 -4407.
20: ** *BUILDING DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS * **
21: No changes will be made to the plans unless approved by the Engineer and the Tukwila Building Division.
22: Electrical permits shall be obtained through the Washington State Division of Labor and Industries and all electrical
work will be inspected by that agency (206- 835 - 1111).
23: All permits, inspection records, and approved plans shall be available at the job site prior to the start of any
construction. These documents are to be maintained and available until final inspection approval is granted.
24: All structural welding shall be done by W.A.B.O. certified welders and special inspected (UBC - Sec. 306(a)5).
25: All high- strength bolting shall be special inspected (UBC - Sec. 306(a)6).
26: When special inspection is required either the owner, architect or engineer shall notify the Tukwila Building Division
of appointment of the inspection agencies prior to the first building inspection. Copies of all special inspection
reports shall be submitted to the Building Division in a timely manner. Reports shall contain address, project name,
permit number and type of inspection being performed.
27: The special inspector shall submit a final signed report stating whether the work requiring special inspection was, to
the best of the inspector's knowledge, in conformance with approved plans and specifications and the applicable
workmanship provisions of the UBC.
28: All construction to be done in conformance with approved plans and requirements of the Uniform Building Code (1997
Edition) as amended, Uniform Mechanical Code (1997 Edition), and Washington State Energy Code (1997 Edition).
29: Validity of Permit. The issuance of a permit or approval of plans, specifications, and computations shall not be
construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any
other ordinance of the jurisdiction. No permit presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this
code shall be valid.

Dear Permit Holder:
In reviewing our current records the above noted permit has not received a final inspection by the City of Tukwila
Building Division. Per the Uniform Building Code and /or Uniform Mechanical Code, every permit issued by the
Building Official under the provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the
building or work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if
the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is
commenced for a period of 180 days.
Based on the above, you are hereby advised to:
• Call the City Of Tukwila Permit Center at (206) 431 -3670 to arrange for the next or final
inspection.
This inspection is intended to determine if substantial work has been accomplished since issuance of the permit
or last inspection; or if the project should be considered abandoned.
If such determination is made, the Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve a one -time
extension up to 180 days. Extension requests must be in writing and provide satisfactory reasons why
circumstances beyond the applicants control have prevented action from being taken.
In the event you do not call for the above inspection or request and receive an extension prior to July 6, 2004,
your permit will become null and void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and
associated fees.
