Gvrsum Plaster
Where a lightweight, high thermal conductivity conventional plaster applications is desired
— Mill -mixed perlite- aggregate gypsum plaster; requires only the addition of water at the Jobsite.
— Ideal for areas where it is not desirable to mix aggregate with plaster on the job.
— Lightweight plaster; weighs less than half as much as sanded plaster.
— Excellent for areas requiring highly insulated plaster; provides "k" factor of 1.74, three times the Insulation value of
sanded plaster.
Description
STRUCTO -Li1E® Gypsum Plaster is a mill -mixed perlite- aggregate gypsum plaster. It requires only the addition of water at the
jobsite.
STRUCr0 -LrrE Gypsum Plaster Is USG's lightest - weight and most highly insulated plaster. STRUCTO -LITE Gypsum Plaster is
available in two types: Regular for use over gypsum lath or metal lath; and Masonry for use on high- suction unit masonry
base only.
STRUCTO-LITE Gypsum Plaster provides a plastic working material which will conform to various designs and help achieve
durability in walls and ceilings. It can be applied by hand or machine methods, on gypsum or metal lath, clay tile, concrete or
cinder blocks, or other approved plaster bases.
Fire Protection: Gypsum plasters, specially made for fire - protection applications, and used with specified plaster bases, pro-
vides excellent fire protection.
Sound Isolation: In certain systems, gypsum plasters offer sound transmission loss characteristics suitable for most require-
ments. Sanded basecoat plaster provides optimum results.
control of Set STRUCTO -Li1E Gypsum Plaster Is formulated for use in varying climatic conditions and job conditions. The
quicker a gypsum plaster sets, the stronger the basecoat.
1. Not recommended over metal lath when a smooth trowel finish is required.
2. Not recommended for machine application when vertical lift exceeds 30 ft. or hose length is over 150 ft.
3. This product requires a lime - gauging finish plaster containing a fine aggregate to control surface cracking.
4. Over interior monolithic concrete, USG' Plaster Bonder must be applied before plastering.
5. Plaster application on masonry or concrete walls, or ceilings that have been coated with bituminous compounds or other
waterproofing agents, is not recommended. The Interior surface of exterior walls should be furred and lathed prior to plas-
tering to prevent seepage and condensation.
6. Basecoat plasters must not die or stop against a hollow metal door frame return. Provision must be made to dampen the
trim return vibration by grouting, and by the use of special anchors. The grout must be raked out to allow lath and plaster
to be inserted Into the frame.
7. Gypsum plasters should not be used where they will come into contact with water or excessive moisture.
Directions Preparation In cold weather, all glazing should be completed and the building heated to a minimum of 55 °F (13 °G) before gypsum base
or lath and plaster Installation. The temperature of the building must be maintained in uniform range above 55 °F for an
adequate period prior to application of plaster, while plastering Is being done, and until plaster Is dry. Heat should be well
distributed In all areas, with deflection or protective screens used to prevent concentrated or irregular heat on the plaster
surfaces.
Ventilation and air circulation should be provided to properly dry the plaster subsequent to plaster applications and proper
set. This can be accomplished by keeping windows open sufficiently to provide air circulation in glazed buildings; in enclosed
areas lacking normal ventilation, provisions must be made to mechanically remove moisture -laden air.
If glazed sashes are not in place and the building Is subject to hot, dry winds or temperature differentials from day to
night of 20 °F (11 °G) or more, openings must be screened with cheesecloth or similar material.

City of Tukwila
ATTN: Bob Benedicto, Building Official
6300 South Center Blvd.
Tukwila, WA 98188
Dear Mr. Benedicto:
This letter is in regards to The Museum of Flight's aircraft display and hanging of
aircraft. We have a substantial responsibility to safe guard and preserve the historic
artifacts in our collection: It is the policy of the Museum to retain the services of
Registered Professional Engineers in the State of Washington to design all aircraft
hanging and mounting'installations. Substantial; safety margins (on the order of a factor
- often) are included in these designs. Similarly, The Museum of Flight hires only highly
qualified rigging firms to install the aircraft.
It should be noted that during the recent Nisqually Earthquake of substantial magnitude
(exceeded 6.0 Richter) that none of the hung or mounted aircraft sustained any damage.
The Museum Flight assumes all liability for these installations. Consequently, the City
of Tukwila need not include them in current or future Certificates of Occupancy
considerations. The City does not bear any liability for these installations.

RE: CORRECTION LETTER #1
Development Permit Application Number D03 -374

Dear Julie:
This letter is to inform you of corrections that must be addressed before your development permit(s) can

BUILDING DIVISION REVIEW
Tukwila Building Division
6300 SouthCenter Blvd.
Tukwila, WA 98188
206 -431 -3670
Date: Dec. 26, 2003
Project Name: Museum of Flight, Farmhouse I Factory Exhibit permit application
Application #: D03 -374
Plan Reviewer: Ken Nelsen, Senior Plans Examiner
A general Building Division plan review has been completed on the subject project. Please
address the following comments in an itemized format and accompany with revised plan or other
applicable documentation.
1. The Farmhouse roof structure has been completely designed of fire- retardant wood or
other wood materials. U.B.C. Section 603 requires that the type II one -hour building, be
constructed of non - combustible materials or fire retardant wood within an assemble. The
proposed fire treated paint applied to the wood structures is also not equivalent to the
code non - combustible requirement. However as stated in earlier discussions regarding
the overall museum, wood surfaces may be applied directly over non - combustible
building construction. Revise the plans to accommodate the non - combustible
requirements.
2. The plan details for the Farmhouse exhibit do not show a finish material over the exposed
underside of the Farmhouse wood roof sheathing or wood framing. The fire- retardant
wood roof materials when covered by an appropriate gypsum drywall assemble, could
become compatible to the above noted non - combustible requirements. Clarify this detail
in the revised roof design.
3. Identify on the plans, where the application of the Roscoflamex fire retardant paint would
be proposed for wood surfaces in the exhibit.
4. For the WVVI Production Truss Tie detail on sheet SH -7.1, shows that some welding will
be done. The size of the weld and the extent of welding required are not indicated on the
plan detail or in the structural calculations. Show this information on the plans.
5. Regarding welding, any shop welding must be completed by a WABO certified welding
shop. Include reference this requirement on the plans. (When applicable, any site
welding must also be special inspected per U.B.C. Section 1701.5.)
Should there be questions on these requirements, please feel free to contact the Building
Division office at 206 -431 -3670. No further comments at this time.
