APPLICATION SUBMITTAL In order to ensure that your application is accepted for plan review, please make sure to fill out the
application completely and follow the plan submittal checklist on the reverse side of this form, Handouts are available at
the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements.
Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new constriction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. in all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and Is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/encineer, or contractor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent ,o submit this
perm :t application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations, The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 160
days upon written request by the applicant as defined In Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition),
No application shall be extended more than once.

3. SLAB - If structural slab or if underslab insulation is required.
4. SHEARWALL NAILING - Prior to cover.
5. ROOF SHEATHING NAILING - Prior to cover.
6. MASONRY CHIMNEY - Approximately midpoint.
7. FRAMING - After rough -in inspections such as mechanical, plumbing, gas piping, electrical and fire stopping is in place.
8. INSULATION - After framing approval, but before installation of wallboard. Baffles must be installed to keep attic
ventilation points clear.
9. SUSPENDED CEILING - Fasten diffusers, lights and seismic bracing.
10. WALL BOARD FASTENING - Prior to taping (see UBC Chap. 47 and Table 47G).

Permit Conditions:
1. No changes will be made to the plans unless approved by the
Architect and the Tukwila Building Division.
2. Plumbing permit shall be obtained through the Seattle -King
County Department of Public Health. Plumbing will be
inspected by that agency, including all gas piping
(296- 4722).
3. Electrical permit shall be obtained through the Washington
State Division of Labor and Industries and all electrical .
work will be inspected by that agency (277- 7272).
4. All mechanical work shall be under separate permit through
the City of Tukwila.
5. All permits, inspection records, and approved plans shall be
maintained available at the job site prior to the start of
any construction. These documents are to be maintained
available until final inspection approval is granted.
6. Any new ceiling grid and light fixture installation is
required to meet lateral bracing requirements for Seismic
Zone 3.
7. Partition walls attached to ceiling grid must be laterally
braced if over eight (8) feet in length.
8. Any exposed insulations backing material shall have a Flame
Spread Rating of 25 or less, and material shall bear identi-
fication showing the fire performance rating thereof.
9. All construction to be done in conformance with approved
plans and requirements of the Uniform Building Code (1988
Edition), Uniform Mechanical Code (1988 Edition), Washington
State Energy Code (1991 Edition), and Washington State
Regulations for Barrier Free Facility (1990 Edition).
10. Provide toilet room exhaust fan ducted to exterior of
building.
11. Validity of Permit. The issuance of a permit or approval of
plans, specifications and computations shall not be con-
strued to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation
of any of the provisions of this code or of any other
ordinance of the jurisdiction. No permit presuming to give
authority or violate or cancel the provisions of this code
shall be valid.
12. A CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS PERMIT.

The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. The total number of fire extinguishers required for
your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for
each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be
of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10B:C) dry chemical type. Travel
distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less.
(NFPA 10, 3 -1.1)
Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in .
the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or set on
shelves (NFPA 10, 1 -6.9), and shall be installed so
that the top of the extinguisher is not more than 5
feet above the floor. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.9)
Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain
view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view,
they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire
Extinguisher ", with an arrow pointing to the unit.

2. Exit hardware and marking shall meet the requirements
of the Uniform Fire Code. (UFC 12.106 - 12.111)
Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without .
the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort.
Exit doors shall not be locked, chained, bolted,
barred, latched or otherwise rendered unusable. All
locking devices shall be of an approved type. (UFC

when serving any hazardous area or when serving an
occupant load of 50 or more. (UBC 3304(b))
3. Maintain sprinkler protection for all enclosed areas.
(NFPA 13, 4- 1.1.1) (UFC 10.302)
All sprinkler drawings shall be prepared by companies
licensed to perform this type of work. Drawings shall
first be approved by the Washington Survey & Rating
Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk
Insurers, then by the Tukwila Fire Department. No
sprinkler work shall commence without approved

4. Your street address must be conspicuously posted on
the building and shall be plainly visible and legible from
the street. Numbers shall contrast with their background.

All required occupancy separations, area separation
walls, and draft -stop partitions shall be maintained
and shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced
when damaged, altered, breached, penetrated, removed
or improperly installed. (UFC 10.401)
All interior wall covering materials shall be
fire- resistive or shall be treated to be
fire- resistive, so as to result in a flame - spread
rating as required by UFC Appendix VI -C tables 42A and
42B. A certificate of the flame spread rating is,
required to be delivered to the Tukwila Fire

The initial plan review has been completed by Building
Division, and the following corrections or clarifications
are required to show compliance with The Uniform Building
Code and The Washington State Regulations for Barrier Free
Facilities.
1. The retail sales floor serves an occupant load such
that two exits are required. Please review space plan and
provide a second exit. Note that the two exits must be
separated by no less than one half the largest diagonal
distance of the space served.
2. The proposed bathroom facility must be made to comply
with the Washington State Barrier Free Code. Provide
details to show compliance, i.e. fixture locations,
dimensions and door size and direction of swing.
3. If this business will employ four or more workers, then
facilities for each sex must be provided.
