Handouts are available at the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements. Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review. VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3C70 prior to submitting application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once. Beams are 8' - 0" on center with a minimum dimension of 5 -1/8" x 9" for 20' wide. For 24' and 30' wide shelters are a minimum of 5 -1/8" x 10h ". Appearance grade of laminated members is Architectural. Posts are 766 x 6 Douglas fir C.C.A. Pressure Treated to 0.6 retention for 20' wide and 6 x 8 for 24' and 30' wide. Posts are embedded to a depth of 48" in concrete footings for stability. Steel posts are also available. Steel posts will be 5 x 5 x 3/16 for 20' wide, and 6 x 6 x 3/16 for 24' and 30' wide, structural steel. The posts will be primed and painted with an industrial enamel finish. Hot galvanized finish for posts is also available. We also offer round 10 " -12" wooden posts and 8" steel posts as alternate supports for these shelters. Posts and beams are pre - drilled for easy on -site assembly with 3/8" steel connector plates and bolts. Roof decking is 2 x 6 tongue and groove Douglas fit, #2 and btr., with 2 x 6 fascia boards. Galvanized nails are provided. Roofing is optional with asphalt shingles which will be 3 tab class A fire rated fiberglass asphalt shingle with a 20 year life, cedar shakes, cedar shingles or customer may supply the roofing. A metal drip edge and 15/30# felt underlay are included if Natural Structures provides the roofing. The shelter roof structure is designed to withstand a snow load of 40 pef and a wind load of 20 pef. A basic soil bearing strength of 1000 psf is required. Lay out locations and dig footing holes. See detail, sheets. 2. Place rebar through post base and set in footing holes on 3" concrete pad. Plumb and brace securely. It i v important that the e� enact so that beams and decking, will fit properly. P acer rie t.e a top rebar into floor vire mesh. rooting and slab can be poured together. We recommend/ pouring separately with the slab being poured after shelter is assembled. Pour footings using 3000 PSI (minimum) concrete. Allow concrete to cure for a minimum of five days., 3. Bolt connector plates to post tope (2 per post top) using two hex bolts, ' washers, and lochnuts. Do not completely tighten to allow some play. 4. Lift beams into place / using a large forklift or similar equipment with non-marring slings. Bolt to connector plates. Make sure beams are plums and add temporary bracing to hold until roof decking is installed. Tighten bolts firmly. 5. Install 2 x 6 tongue and groove decking, face nailing with 16d nails. Center joints over beam , following pattern shown in detail. Last row of decking will have to be field cut at ridge. 6. Attach 2 x 6 fascia at ends, placing mitered ends at peak. 7. Install drip edge roofing felt, and shingles. (See Installation Instruction Sheet). 8. Metal roofing panels are installed according to manufacturer's specifications using self - sealing screws. 9. Set slab forms after footing and 3/4 minus leveling rock is in place. Lay mesh or rebar and pour 3000 PSI concrete.
