Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review. VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once. Rants, Mayor The attached set of buildi' plans have been reviewed by The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: 1. The total number of fi extinguishers required for your establishment. is calculated at one' extinguisher for each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s).should be of the "All Purpose" (2A, 109:C) dry chemical type. Travel distance to any fire exting must be 75' or less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1) Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or set on shelves (NFPA 10, 1 -6.9), and shall be installed so that the top of': h 't i ngu is,h.er is not more than 5 feet above the' floor.',(NFPA., Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view, they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire Extinguisher ", with an arrow pointing to the unit. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.3) (UFC 10,505A) Clear access to fire extinguiShers is required at all times. They may not be.hicjden or obstructed. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.5) Fire extinguishers require monthly and yearly inspections. (UBC 3303(d)) Exit doors shall he openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. Exit doors shall not be locked, chained, bolted, barred, latched or otherwise rendered unusable. All locking devices shall be of an approved type. (UFC 12.106(c)) Obstructions, including storage, shall not be placed in the required width of an exit, except projections . as permitted by the Building Code. Exits shall not be obstructed in any manner and shall remain free of any material or matter where its presence would obstruct or render the exit hazardous. (UFC 12.104(a)) Dead bolts are not allowed on auxiliary exit doors unless the dead bolt is automatically retracted when the door handle is engaged from inside the tenant space. Storage under exterior or interior stairwells shall not be permitted unless such space is protected on the enclosed side by one hour fire - resistive construction . and sprinklered where required. (UFC 12 ..106(c)) Exit hardware and marking shall meet the requirements of the Uniform Fire Code. How ever because of the limited work proposed consideration can be made for work that will not increase the non compliance as follows. 1. The proposed new 28" door from the west darkroom to the adjoining south room is required to have a minimum 32" clear opening per U.B.C. section 3304(f). 2. The proposed 36" sliding door from the main darkroom area to the existing hall is not allowed as an exit door per U.B.C. section 3304(h). Proposed an alternate complying door type or an additional exit door. 3. The newly proposed door near the main building entrance may not be installed as it will increase the non conformity of the existing exit system. If the door must be installed, then we would require the entire hallway system comply-to the corridor section of U.B.C. 3305. 4. In the area of the new suspended ceiling a lighting budget of watts per square foot is required and light switching details on the drawings per Washington State Energy Code section 505.3.2 . 5.
