The racks have vertical legs 38 inches wide spaced at 8 foot on center or less. Two pallets per 8 foot shelf will be stored at 5, 10, and 15 feet. The maximum individual pallet weight is 1500 pounds. In placing pallets on the racks the lower shelves are to be loaded first. The total number of fire extinguishers required for your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10 B:C) dry chemical type. Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1) (UFC 10 -1 (3 -1)) 2. No point in a sprinklered building may be more than 200 feet from an exit, measured along the path of travel. (UBC 3302(d)) 3. Refrain from blocking sprinker coverage with shelving. NFPA Standard #13 states that any shelving or decks in excess of 4 feet in width will require the installation of sprinklers thereunder. (UFC 10.302) 4. If the building is to be used for the storage of high -piled combustible material (as defined in UFC, Sec. 9.110); automatic fire - extinguishing systems, smoke - removal systems, fire protection and fire separations are required per Uniform Fire Code - Article 81. Contact the Tukwila Fire Department to obtain a high -piled storage permit prior to final inspection. ds'/liy" "2.1 . RICHARD HUDSON & A OCIATES, INC. I find that the racks will be satisfactorily anchored to comply with the seismic forces required by the 1988 Uniform Building Code if the detail shown below is utilized at foot of each leg. Please contact me if I can be of any further service. S cerely, d3e-n/ Rick Hudson, P.E. Fax copy to Rob Chandler, Chandler and Associates TY CAL Foci PLATE.
