2. All construction to be done in conformance with auuroved
plans and requirements o f the Uniform Bu i l d i no Code (1 997
Edition) as amended, Uniform Mechanical Code (1997 Edition).
and Washington State Energy Code (1997 Edit:on).
3. Validity of Permit. The issuance of a permit or approval of
plans, specifications, and computations shall not be con-
strued to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation
of any of the provisions of the building rode or of anv
other ordinance of the jurisdiction. No permit presuming to
give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this
code shall be valid.
4. All permits. inspection records. and apuroved plan, shall be
available at the lob site orior to the ;tart of .anti• Coo -
struction. These documents are to be maintained and avail-
able until final inspection .approval is granted.
5. ** *FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS*#*
6. The attached set of plans have been reviewed by The Fire
Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following
concerns:
7. Storage may not be closer than 36 inches in all directions
to ceiling -hung "Space or Unit' heaters. (UFC 1 1 09. 2 )
8 . Storage may not be closer than 1 8 inches below s p r i n k l e r
heads. (NFPA 13, 4 -2.5)
9. In double row racks with height_ of storage up to and
including 25', an average nominal 6" tram verse flue space
between loads or at rack uprights shall be maintained.
(NFPA 13)
10. Maintain minimum 6" longitudinal flue space between back to
back racks. (NFPA 13)
1 1 . Where storage height exceeds 15 feet sand ceiling s p r i n k l e r s
only are installed, fire protection by one of the following
methods is required for steel building columns located
within racks. (a) one -hour fire proofing. (b) sidewali
sprinklers at the 15 foot elevation of the column, (c)
ceiling sprinkler density minimums as determined by the
Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau. (NFPA 13)
12. Aisles leading to required exits ::,hall be provided from all
portions of buildings. Aisles located within an accessible
route: of travel shall also comply with the Building Code
requirements for accessibility. (UFC 1204. i )
13. Depending on the c l a s s i f i c a t i o n of the commodity being
stored and the size of the storage area, smoke vents. small
hose stations and curtain boards may be required by Table
81 -A of the Uniform Fire Code. Contact the Tukwi13 Fire
Prevention Bureau for further information.
14. An approved hose station requires plans review. (Plans
must be submitted to the Fire Marshal for approval prior to
installation.) (City Ordinance #1901)
15. Racks desioned for high-piled storage must comply with
section 2207 of the Uniform Building Code. Please contact
the Tukwila Building Department for details pertaining to
design and installation standards.
16. Refrain from blocking sprinkler coverage with shelvina.
NFPA standard #13 states that any shelving or decks in
excess of 4 feet in width will require installation of
sprinklers thereunder.
17. High-piled combustible storage is combustible mate'. in
closely packed piles more than 12 feet in height or
combustible materials on pallets or- in racks more than 12
feet in height. For certain special-hazard commodities
such as rubber tires, plastics, some flammable liquids,
idle pallets, etc.4 the critical pile heiaht may be as low
as 6 feet. (UFC article 2, sec. 209-H)
18. Contact the Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau to witness all
required inspections and tests. (UFC 10.503) (City
Ordinance #1900 and #1901)
19. This review limited to speculative tenant space only -
special fire permits may be necessary depending on detailed
description of intended use.
. Any overlooked hazardous condition and/or violation of the
adopted Fire or Building Codes does not imply approval of
such condition or violation.

on this rack at the above location.
The materials described to me are as follows: Flat corrugated box materials on wood pallets, Wire Cables
stored in corrugated boxes and empty wood pallets stacked together.
The clearance from top surface of the top loads will be well within the code for 18" clearance from
sprinkler heads.
