The calculations performed were for the (3) worst case racks using the rack locations and loads you provided us (see enclosed Detail "1). Our calculations confirmed that the racks may be loaded to a height of 12' -6" with minimal overturning problems during a seismic event (see enclosed). However, the racks did not have an overturning factor of safety greater than 1.5. The 1997 UBC requires this value as a minimum if no holdown anchors are to be used. As a result, holdown anchors bolt will need to be installed on each column base per Detail p 2 (see enclosed). Three options arc available for the type of mechanical expansion anchor used to restrain the racks. The first option is to use a 5/8" Rawl Wedge -Bolt with a minimum embedment of 4.5" into the concrete. This option requires that the concrete slab is least 6" thick. If the slab is not 6" thick or greater, this anchor type cannot be used. For slab thicknesses less than 6 ", two anchor options are available. Both of these would require special inspection of the anchors as they are installed. The inspection is to be performed on periodic basis and shall be carried out by a licensed inspection agency. The first anchor option is to use a t /z" diameter Rawl Wedge -Bolt embedded in the concrete a minimum of 3.5". The second is to use a V:" Rawl -Bolt (Power -Bolt) with a minimum embedment of 3.5 ". Install the anchors per Rawl's directions and ensure they are attached to the columns with hardware supplied by the storage rack manufacturer.
