A continuous joint will be ground from the bottom of the veneer, approximately ten foot above the sidewalk, to the roof parapet. These joints will then be caulked with a urethane caulking. This will allow the veneer a location for normal expansion and contraction. ▪ Also, as per the engineer's direction, we will pin the veneer to the substructure using helifix ties, above the south "package pickup" entry and at the corners where cracking occurred. The helifix ties will be installed at twenty-four inch centers both vertically and horizontally from the bottom of the veneer to the roof parapet. Although the "package pickup" area has shown no stress fractures due to the seismic event, this exit is the only area where there isn't a canopy above a egress and is being done for additional public safety. • Work on the structure will be completed before the hours of 10 am so as to not impact auto or pedestrian traffic. Safety barriers to further insure proper clearances around the squirt boom will also be used. Per our report of March 1, 2001. damaged veneer joints should be repaired by Installing a properly detailed control Joint at each corner, Broken bricks either side of this Jo nt should be replaced and repointed. We recommend a urethane expansion joint material be installed in the new joint per manufacturers written instructions. We also recommend that existing veneers be anchored six feet horizontally each sloe of damaged corners and over existing store exits. Anchors should be spaced 24 inches on center horizontally and vertically. Contractor should use "hteIIFix' stainless steel anchors installed using the DryFix method. Refer to attached SK-Vt. Install anchors per manufactures written instructions. Field proof test 10% of anchors to verify minimum pull -out load of 150 #.
