D01 -290 Per your request, 1 have completed a site inspcetion of the floor bolts attaching the stock room shelving to the Poor at the Vans store in the Southcenter Mall in Tukwila, WA. This letter report contains a summary of our inspection and conclusions. The shelving is in the stockroom of the subject store. To prepare for the inspcction, plans and calculations previously completed by others were reviewed. The plans for the shelves were created by Dennis T. Mitchell, PE; and the calculations for static and seismic loading were prepared by Wen -Chung Minn, PE. The plans and calculations assume nominal bolts of 3/8 in diameter and 2 4 in engagement length. Maximum uplifting load indicated in the calculations was 434 Ib. This loading, including the lateral shear loads anticipated, is easily sustained by these fasteners. The fasteners used in the as- installed stationary shelves are nominally 3/8 in X 3 in yawl bolts, identified as 1CBO #4514. The bolts are installed with a nominal above - floor height of '/ in at each comer of each stationary shelf, compliant with the plan requirement of 2 % in engagement. The fasteners used for the track system are a 3/8 in X 4 in package, installed every lineal 18 in or less along each track, per the plans.
