Staff continues to work on their in -house punchlist of items to continue to improve the details around the
facility with the goal of completing all items by the Grand Re Opening on April 20, 2013. Some items from
the list include: painting, refinishing benches, installing benches, installing storage and organizational
shelving, miscellaneous maintenance items, repairing doors, cleaning out old supplies in storage, cleaning
up at the pool and in the shop area in the mechanical room, creating a system for the pool covers that
works for staff and reduces staff time, brushing and vacuuming the new liner, and many other various
items. Staff have also received several training sessions on the various new equipment systems. The Grand
Re- Opening is on April 20, 2013 in concurrence with the nation-wide aquatics event, April's Pool's Day. On
April 10th, the pool closed at 9:OOam due to an issue with the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) on the pool
recirculation pump. It was randomly shutting itself off and turning back on. After many hours of
troubleshooting with the sub - contractor that installed it, the manufacturer's rep, and McKinstry, it has been
deemed faulty and a new one was to be installed on warranty. The replacement was overnighted from the
East Coast to be installed on April 12th however, an unfortunate turn in events happened during installation
of the new VFD. There was some confusion by the contractor on the electrical wiring of it and it was wired
incorrectly causing it to burn up when they turned the power on. No one was hurt but the VFD was fried
and rendered useless. A similar temporary unit was overnighted and installed in time on April 13th to allow
re- opening of the pool on April 14th. All this was at the contractor's cost. Revenue loss has been discussed
as well with the contractor.
The manufacturer has never seen one of their VFD's do this so they are dissecting it to figure out what
happened. There was no obvious evidence of why it was failing like that, A permanent replacement will be
re- installed at a later date when it can be scheduled to minimize impact on operations.

Description - The Parking Lot & Access Improvements Project work was finished 1/14/13 on time and under
budget. Project completion and closeout process was initiated March 4 by the City Council. This typically
takes up to 90 days for all releases.

Communication has been happening between EarthCorps, Forterra, Holly (Past Forward), Friends of the Hill,
and City Staff about the plans for 2013. Duwamish Alive! is on Saturday April 20th and once again many
volunteers are anticipated. Staff is working with Finance to nail down the CIP budget for this project for
2013. Most all City CIP funds were re- allocated by the City Council in efforts to re- evaluate where to spend
monies based upon information from the Strategic Plan.

Robert and Paul are working on getting the parking lot striped. We are also looking into the option of
bidding out a "maintenance contract for 3yrs” for parking lot type work. Other agencies have done this and
we are looking at doing something similar to save staff time.
