MINUTES
January 15, 2014 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
Call to Order: Parks Committee Chairperson Sean Albert called the meeting to order at 5:38pm.
Attendance: Commissioners — Sean Albert, Don Scanlon, Alice Russell
Absent —Joanne McManus
Staff — Dave Johnson, David Cline
Presentation: Mr. Cline presented information to the Commissioners related to updating the City Ethics Code and
discussion took place about the possibility of formation of an Ethics Board.
Approval of Minutes: Don Scanlon moved to approve the Minutes of the November 16, 2013 meeting. Alice
Russell seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously.
Citizen Comment: no citizen comment
Business Items
A. Project Update — The Commission reviewed the Project Update included in the Agenda Packet.
B. Gully Gardens Update — Dave Johnson shared the information with the Commission on the request to
rename the Pea Patch at Riverton Park to "Gully Gardens" and informed the Commission that Council will
be taking final action at the February 3`d Council meeting.
C. PROS Plan Update — Dave Johnson shared that the public comments are being compiled and incorporated
into the Draft Plan to be presented to the Community Affairs and Parks Committee on January 28. From
there, it is scheduled to go to Council on February 10 with final adoption on February 18tH
C. Park Rules Update — Dave Johnson explained that staff are working on a draft of updated Rules and
Regulations and hope to have a preliminary draft at an upcoming meeting for the Commission to review.
D. Department Update — Dave Johnson shared information with the Commission, including Summer program
planning, the youth /Teen basketball League began with over 300 kids signed up, and that we are planning
to interview applicants for the Commission vacancies.
Adjournment: Don Scanlon moved to adjourn at 6:30pm. The motion was seconded by Alice Russell. The motion
passed unanimously.

Staff is awaiting some technical information from our consultant before moving forward with the Archeology
Survey. Design consultant interviews have occurred and a firm was selected to begin negotiations with. The goal
is to bring the contract forward to CAP on March 11.
Target Completion Date: On -going
Project Stage: Consultant Selection /Testing for Phase 2 /Restoration /Maintenance
Project Budget: $900K
Ft Dent Parking Lot Repair Work
Met with civil engineer on February 14 to determine scope of work and cost estimating. Moving forward with
goal of summer paving.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, NAMING THE PEA PATCH
AT RIVERTON PARK AS "GULLY GARDENS."
WHEREAS, Betty and Paul Gully were long -time residents of the City of Tukwila;
and
WHEREAS, Betty and Paul Gully were active in the community through their
involvement with Scouts, the school district, the Rainier Symphony, and Tukwila
Children's Foundation, among others; and
WHEREAS, Betty and Paul Gully were recipients of the City's "Treasures of
Tukwila" award in 2002; and
WHEREAS, Betty and Paul's involvement, participation, and contributions to the
community have inspired others, beyond their family; and
WHEREAS, Betty and Paul believed that creating a community is like tending a
garden, and that a community, like a garden, requires constant care and attention, and
Betty and Paul were always there to provide that care and attention; and
WHEREAS, Betty and Paul's example of service to their community can inspire all
of us; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila Park Commission has agreed that Betty and Paul
Gully should be honored by the naming of a City facility in their honor;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
The Pea Patch at Riverton Park shall be named "Gully Gardens."
