VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition). The Tukwila permit set is accurate. 2. Tukwila policy is to issue a Certificate of Occupancy for Tenant Improvements only after receiving a letter of compliance with all permit requirements from the agency inspecting the primary building. Tukwila will not issue a temporary Certificate of Occupancy. For the 9 -08 Office building all KCBALD permit requirements must be complete and a letter must be sent to Tukwila indicating such by KCBALD before a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued. 3. The Tukwila Fire Marshal requested a copy of the building shell fire sprinkler drawings be forwarded for his review. 4. The required smoke removal test will be conducted following completion of the HVAC system and will be accomplished jointly by both inspection agencies. 5. Following issue of the KCBALD building permit, the KCBALD inspector will conduct a complete inspection of the building with Boss Testing. They have been providing inspection service under the KCBALD 308 construction authorization. The King County inspector has invited the Tukwila inspector to accompany him on this inspection for familiarization and assurance that the building construction meets all code and permit requirements. As we discussed, the security post location is within the sixty foot building restriction area of Building 9 -77. There are several reasons, however, why it is necessary to locate it there. In addition, there are several reasons that the location will not be a problem for firefighting. Accordingly, Boeing is requesting that the building be allowed in the proposed location, and a building permit be issued for its construction. NO ALTERNATIVE LOCATIONS Attached is a copy of the North D.C. Site Master Plan. The security post is located to control vehicular and pedestrian traffic into the site from 93rd Place, a road and signaled intersection proposed by Boeing and The City of Tukwila. Traffic on the existing road running north and south will also be controlled from the security post. The existence of the pump house building and water storage tank do not allow the intersection to be shifted to the east, and still maintain visual and physical control of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The proposed location is the only feasible location for safety and control. MITIGATING MEASURES On -Site Firefighting Boeing has its own fire department to respond to any fire. Accordingly, response time is immediate and there would be no burden on Tukwila. Dedicated Fire Protection System for Building 9 -77 There is an existing fire protection system dedicated to the 9 -77 Building that consists of a loop system of hydrants served by a 1.6 million gallon tank capable of providing 12,000 gpm for a two hour duration. 222 East 26th Street No. 202, Tacoma, WA 98421, (206) 627.7947 November 8, 1989 page 2 Building 9 -77 has a Sprinkler System Building 9 -77 is a fully sprinklered building. Unobstructed Access Around Building 9 -77 There is unobstructed access completely around the building for fire it truck and emergency access. The proposed security post, while t is inside the 60' setback, will not obstruct access to or around the building. Indeed, the 24 hour presence of a guard at the security post could aid in directing traffic away from the building to provide clear access for fire fighting and emergency equipment. The Security Post is Small The proposed building is only 200 square feet in area. It will . be attended 24 hours by one to two people. It is a single story, fifteen -foot high building. There are two pedestrian doors, and three opening windows. The Security Post Can Be Sprinkled The building is not proposed to be sprinkled, but can be if required.
