Box 33578 Seattle, Washington 98133 November 20,1990 The Performance bond accompanying this letter is to guarantee that the installation of a permanent exit stair will be completed at RB Furniture, 6810 S 180th St. in compliance with the approved plans within thirty days of today's date. I have enclosed plan cuts to indicate that the stair must be installed according to the elevation and not the floor plan view due to the projection of fire protection equipment from the face of the building. I expect the installation process to require one day or less, during which time, to insure safe egress, we will relocate the temporary stair to garrage door "E" which will remain open. We will also barricade the end of the corridor and post a sign directing traffic to the temporary exit. I hope that this proceedure will satisfy your requirements and allow our client, RB Furniture, to obtain use of this space at the earliest possible time. Please find the enclosed details. Secondly, as you know, your office required us to provide a new corridor along grid H with an exit directly to the outside. This corridor happens to terminate at an existing door which was framed in an wood wall that infills an abandon overhead door. Since this door was framed in a wood wall the inspector has asked that it too be brought up to the one hour standard. I was directed to write a letter to you requesting that approval. This wall in question is exterior and, in my opinion, does not have any impact on the integrity of the new corridor. Although I disagree with the . requirement to bring this wall up to a new standard, we are prepared to comply so that this project may proceed in a timely manner. After a general overview I have determined additional information and corrections need to be resubmitted so a complete plan review can be made. Please address the following comments. 1. Provide method of compliance to Washington State Energy Code on proposed new office space, other than the submitted light budject. ( heatloss calculations, specification, architectual details ) 2. Distance to proposed and exsiting exits in warehouse are greater than 200 feet. Propose method to comply with U.B.C.3303.(d). Proposed office space occupancy load greater than 30 requires 2 exit. The second exit does not comply with U.B.C.33 EXITS. 4. Provide specificatoin called out on plans for west side dock levelers and new door enclosures. 5. Resubmitt structural design (detail 2,A -3) on the.14 dock levelers on east side.. This design may require a Washington State licensed engineer stamp.
