The undersigned City of Tukwila Code Enforcement Officer,hereby certifies and states that:

is in violation of Tukwila's Municipal Code(TMC),
TMC Chapter TMC Chapter 16.40.020 International Building Code(IBC)Adopted:
Specifically: IRC,Section 8105.1-A building permit is required for construction of outside
roof extension over deck and storage area and for the fire damaged roof repair
over the dwelling area.
This construction was done without a building permit and the approval of required
inspections.Building owner is required to make application and submit plans to describe
work to be done to comply with code requirements and the replacement of all fire charred
roof members.
• IBC,Section 8301.1-Buildings and structures and all parts thereof,shall be
•
constructed to safely support all loads,including dead loads,live loads,roof loads,
snow loads,wind loads and seismic loads as prescribed by this code.Buildings
and structures constructed as prescribed by this code are deemed to comply with
the requirements of this section.
Roof members are under sized and framing does not meet prescriptive light frame
construction requirements of the International Residential Code and have been
compromised by fire damage.
IRC,Section R407.3-Wood columns shall be restrained to prevent lateral
displacement at the bottom.
Provide mechanical connection between wood column and concrete plinth.
WCEC,Section 85.13(A),(B)- Permits Required.-An owner,authorized agent or
contractor who desires to erect,install,enlarge,alter,repair,remove,convert or
replace electrical systems or equipment,the installation of which is regulated by
this code,or to cause such work to be done,shall first make application to the code
official and obtain the required permit for the work.
Apply for and obtain an electrical permit to repair and correct the problems/violations
found and identified in the December 16,2009 electrical inspection report.Copy included.

Specifically continued: U.P.C.Section 608.5-The water heater pressure relief valve shall be provided with a
drain not smaller than the relief valve outlet,of galvanized steel,hard drawn copper
piping and fittings. The drain shall extend downward from the relief valve to not
more than 2 feet nor less than 6 inches from the floor.
U.P.C.Section 508.2-...water heater shall be anchored or strapped to resist
horizontal displacement due to earthquake motion. Strapping shall be installed
within the upper on third and lower one third of its vertical dimension. At lower
point,maintain a minimum distance of 4 inches above controls.
U.M.C.Chapter 7-Water Heater&Furnace- Provide a door to enclose water
heater alcove and furnace room.. Provide combustion air source from outside of the
building to serve each appliance.
Corrective Action required:
Compliance Date: May 7,2010
Corrective Action: ➢ Call the City of Tukwila permit center at 206-433-7165 to apply for and obtain a
building and electrical permits.
➢ Make application and submit plans to describe work to be done to comply with code

requirements and the replacement of all fire charred roof members.
➢ Replace Roof members and framing to meet prescriptive light frame construction
requirements of the International Residential Code that have been compromised by fire
damage.
➢ Provide mechanical connection between wood column and concrete plinth.
➢ Provide approved drain for the water heater pressure relief valve.
➢ Anchor water heater according to code.

➢ Provide a door to enclose water heater alcove and furnace room.
➢ Provide combustion air source from outside of the building to serve each appliance.
➢ Call for a final inspection when completed.

Appeal Provisions:
A person may,within ten days of receipt of this notice,file with the City Clerk a written notice of appeal containing the
following:
1. A heading with the words:."Before the Hearing Officer of the City of Tukwila;
2. A caption reading: "Appeal of , giving the names of all appellants participating in the appeal;
3. A brief statement setting forth the legal interest of each of the appellants in the property involved in the
notice and order;
4. A brief statement of the specific order or action protested,together with any material facts claimed to
support the contentions of the appellant or appellants;

5. A brief statement of the relief sought,and the reasons why it is claimed that the notice and order should be
reversed,modified,or otherwise set aside;
6. The signature of all persons named as appellants,and their official mailing addresses;
7. The verification(by declaration under penalty of perjury)of each appellant as to the truth of the matters
stated in the appeal.
8. The appeal fee for violations in the LDR zone is$100.00 and in all other zones is$200.00. Fees must
accompany the written notice of appeal.
Failure to appeal this Violation Notice and Order shall constitute a waiver of all rights to any additional administrative hearings.
Failure to respond may result in the matter being forwarded to the City Attorney for further action.
