MOTION CARRIED. City Attorney Linda Cohen read A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING A COMPREHENSIVE WATER PLAN AND PROVIDING FOR WATER SERVICE POLICIES FOR THE CITY. MOVED BY LAWRENCE, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, TO APPROVE RESOLUTION NO.I.a AS READ. MOTION CARRIED. MOVED BY LAWRENCE, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH PERTEET ENGINEERING, INC., FOR THE MINKLER SEWER /STREET DESIGN IN THE AMOUNT OF $119,620 TO INCLUDE A BUDGET TRANSFER.* Councilmember Hernandez clarified that the $20,000 budget transfer was required due to a break in the sewer line. Mayor Rants added that it was more economical to enter into the agreement to have one design firm to do both projects. Council President Lawrence added that the project would be done in 1994 with the street construction; however, if there was a total failure, an emergency repair would be done in the interim. Tukwila City Council Regular Meeting June 21, 1993 Page 3 REPORTS Staff Mayor Rants announced a Pacific Northwest high speed train ride on the X20 tilt train on July 6th which will run from Vancouver to Portland on the present tracks. Council has been invited to participate. On June 24th a meeting at the Kent Senior Center on the formation of the RTA will be held. The King County Council will hold a hearing on the issue on June 28th. Council President Lawrence agreed to write a letter in Council's behalf supporting the formation of the RTA. Councilmember Hernandez shared that the Soroptomist Club, of which she is a 10 year member, contributed nearly $10,000 to communities in South King county. South Central School District received $800 for its Youth Investment summer program. Council President Lawrence reported that Peter Townsend, chair of the RCAA group, gave a presentation the regular airport meeting last week. Townsend will be visiting city councils who are still RCAA members to solicit budgetary help. Public Works Director Ross Earnst announced that City Engineer Ron Cameron was honored as Engineer of the Year at the Institute of Traffic Engineers (ITE) meeting.
