2: No changes shall be made to the approved plans unless approved by the design professional in responsible charge and the
Building Official.
3: All permits, inspection records, and approved plans shall be at the job site and available to the inspectors prior to
start of any construction. These documents shall be maintained and made available until fmal inspection approval is
granted.
4: All construction shall be done in conformance with the approved plans and the requirements of the International
Building Code or International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, Washington State Energy Code.
5: VALIDITY OF PERMIT: The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of,
any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any other ordinances of the City of Tukwila. Permits
presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of the code or other ordinances of the City of Tulcwila
shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the
Building Official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data.
6: ** *FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS * **
7: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by the Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
8: H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned
in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #2051)
9: H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be
equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the
air- moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main return-air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors
shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the
manufacturer's installation instructions. (IMC 606.1, 606.2.1)
10: Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. (City Ordinance #2051)
11: Duct smoke detectors shall be capable of being reset from a single point near the alarm panel. (City Ordinance #2051)
12: Duct detectors shall send a supervisory signal only upon activation. (City Ordinance #2051)
13: All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of The Tukwila Fire
Prevention Bureau. No work shall commence until a fire department permit has been obtained. (City Ordinance #2051) (IFC
104.2)
14: An electrical permit from the City of Tulcwila Building Department Permit Center (206 - 431 -3670) is required for this
project.

The Building Division conducted a plan review on the subject permit application. Please address the
following comments in an itemized format with revised plans, specifications and/or other applicable
documentation.
(GENERAL NOTE)
PLAN SUBMITTALS: (Min. size 11x17 to maximum size of 24x36; all sheets shall be the same size).
(If applicable) Structural Drawings and structural calculations sheets shall be original signed wet
stamped, not copied.)
1. The ventilation system for the elevator machine room may need to comply with state amendments to
section 3006.2 of the IBC. If the room contains solid state equipment for elevator operation, then
makeup air may need to be obtained from outdoors. The system needs to maintain the room
temperature between a range specified by the manufacturer or if not specified then between 55 and
90 degrees. See exception for buildings four stories or less that allows natural or mechanical means
other than an independent ventilation or air conditioning system to maintain ambient air temperature
and humidity in a range specified by the elevator equipment manufacturer. The ventilation system
shown appears to exchange air with a short hallway of limited size. Please provide additional
information to clarify the need for cooling and how this will be accomplished without additional
components to the system.
2. VAV -6 will need to have a return duct mounted smoke detector. It is over 2000cfm and even if RTU-
4 shuts down, VAV -6 will circulate smoke by drawing backflow through the other supply ducts
attached to RTU-4.
3. Please confirm that VAV's 1 through 5 are not equipped with their own fans. These VAV's would
also need to be interlocked with their associated RTU to shutdown if they are fan powered.
Should there be questions concerning the above requirements, contact the Building Division at 206 -431-
3670. No further comments at this time.
