Ashley -Cole, P.E. CONSULTING ENGINEER A site visit was performed on Friday December 14, 2007 to observe the condition and configuration of the existing roof framing to support the proposed mechanical equipment. The replacement unit is roughly the same size and weight and will be put in the approximate location of the original unit. The existing structure was analyzed for the weight of the proposed replacement unit. The existing support structure was found to be over stressed by 123 % of current design stresses for the support of the proposed replacement unit. When evaluating existing older structures it is common practice to assume the wood framing material to be Douglas Fir No. 1. It is also common practice to assume framing members in older structures may exceed current code design stresses by no more than 125 %. The wood framing members were observed to be in good condition and the installation of the proposed replacement does not significantly increase the stresses in the existing framing members. In my opinion, replacing the unit on the existing framing members is acceptable with the code permitted over stress. 1800 Cooper Point Rd. SW , B1dg.10 Olympia, WA 98502 Tel (360) 709 -0807 These structural notes apply to all structural components of the transformer support system. Any discrepancies found among the drawings, these notes and the site conditions shall be reported to the Engineer of Record, who shall correct such discrepancy in writing. Any work done by the Contractor after discovery of such discrepancy, but prior to correction of such discrepancy, shall be done at the Contractor's risk. It is the Contractor's responsibility to verify all field measurements and site conditions. No allowance will be made for any items incorrectly fabricated or installed due to failure to perform such verification prior to commencing work. The Contractor shall field locate and identify all site utilities prior to performing any site excavation or demolition. CONSTRUCTION STABILITY The design, adequacy and safety of erection bracing, shoring and temporary supports is the sole responsibility of the Contractor, and has not been considered by the Engineer of Record. During construction the Contractor shall keep loads within the design roof and floor loads limits shown on the drawings. After construction the Building Owner/Facility Manager shall keep loads within the design loads shown on the drawings and shall engage the services of a licensed Professional Engineer to evaluate the effect of any proposed tenet improvements.
