Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers DATE: April 6, 2005 TO: Mark Peterson — JPC Architects FROM: Michael Bramhall RE: Unisys Building Existing Frame Capacity MEMORANDUM It was observed during my March 25, 2005 site visit that the existing roof framing for the Unisys Building near Tukwila consists of 18" deep OSB -web wood joists at about 8' -0" on center. The joists span approximately 25' to glu -lam beams. The glu -lam beams are supports by structural steel tube sections at about 30' to 35' on center. The stamps on the framing members indicated that the joists and giu -lam beams are manufactured by Standard Structures Incorporated. The weights, sizes and locations of the proposed mechanical units were provided in your January 3, 2005 e-mail. The units are relatively small, averaging about 1100 pounds or about 40 psf. In the process of designing the additional framing to support these units, the capacity of the existing framing was reviewed. In all cases, the available capacity of the existing joist and glu -lam framing exceeds the new calculated demand on those elements.
