6: Water heaters shall be anchored or strapped to resist horizontal displacement due to earthquake motion. Strapping shall
be at points within the upper one -third and lower one -third of the water heater's vertical dimension. A minimum
distance of 4- inches shall be maintained above the controls with the strapping.
7: All plumbing and gas piping work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the Department of
Public Health - Seattle and King County (206/296- 4932).
8: All electrical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the Washington State Department
of Labor and Industries (206/248- 6630).
9: VALIDITY OF PERMIT: The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of,
any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any other ordinances of the City of Tukwila. Permits
presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of the code or other ordinances of the City of Tukwila
shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the
Building Official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data.

WATER HEATERS
HEAT EXCHANGER ..
The Water Boiler heat exchanger shall be a single, high finned copper water tube, formed into a cone, to provide
maximum waterside and fireside performance. The heat exchanger shall be all copper and bronze construction. The
entire coil assembly shall be easily removable and replaceable using hand tools only, without performing welding or
cutting operations and without the use of gaskets or "O "- rings.
WATERSIDE
The single tube shall provide even flow, with no hot spots, throughout the entire heat exchanger to minimize the
hardening of dissolved solids in the water and to provide an effective, low cost and fast means to delime by
circulating a deliming solution through the single tube coil. One 3/4" fitting shall be provided on each of the inlet
and outlet bronze manifolds to allow cleaning (deliming) of the waterside without the disconnecting or
disassembling of the heater. Bronze isolation valves' shall be provided with stainless steel gates and Bunan
seals for deliming purposes.
FIRESIDE
The single water tube heat exchanger shall be formed into a "cone coil" to allow the water tubes and coil to
expand and contract without distortion of design shape. The bottom coil of fin tubing shall be structurally
supported and each row of tubes is to be fully supported by the coil below it to prevent sagging of the copper
fin tube. The cone coil will maintain its shape and assure that the flue passageways will maintain flue side heat
transfer efficiency throughout the life of the boiler. A formed helical galvanized steel baffle shall be provided to
direct gas flow and enhance heat transfer.
The heat exchanger shall be entirely of HIGH FIN COPPER tubing 7/8" I.D. in boilers up to 500,000 BTU and 1 -1/4" I.D. in
boilers 700,000 BTU and larger. The ends of the HIGH FIN COPPER tubing shall be brazed to cast bronze inlet and
outlet manifolds.
The boiler is to be complete with an 18 gauge aluminized steel inner jacket, a 22 gauge mirror finish stainless outer jacket
and fiberglass insulation packaged between the inner and outer jackets.

BURNER
Section 223
The burner assembly shall be front removable by disconnecting one gas pipe union and removing three bolts holding
the gas pan to the legs allowing the burner assembly to drop to the floor and slide out.
The burners shall be of cast nickel iron, atmospheric type, with large multiple ports for low velocity gas flow "quiet
burning type" and with a properly sized venturi and primary air intake openings cast in each burner. Each burner shall
be assembled, with an individual, accurately machined orifice, on to a welded steel gas manifold. The entire
burner /controls assembly shall be FIRE tested at the factory.
Gas shall be supplied to the heater inlet cock at 7 -14" WC for natural gas or 11 -14" for propane'. Electrical supply
required is 120V/60Hz/1 PH. Installer to supply fused disconnect/circuit breaker sized for 12 amp service.

include the following fittings and trim.

2. Combination redundant gas
valve /regulator,
24 volt standard.
3. High limit and operating aquastats
(thermostats).

5. Main gas shutoff cock.
6. Pilot regulator.
7. Draft diverter or barometric damper.
8. 3/4" boiler drain cock.
9. A.S.M.E. listed pressure relief valve.
10. Temperature and pressure gauge.

Dear Permit Holder:
In reviewing our current records the above noted permit has not received a final inspection by the City of Tukwila Building Division.
Per the International Building Code and/or the International Mechanical Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the
provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not
commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or
abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days.
Based on the above, you are hereby advised to:
Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206 - 431 -2451 to schedule for the next or fmal inspection.
This inspection is intended to determine if substantial work has been accomplished since issuance of the permit or last inspection; or if
the project should be considered abandoned.
If such determination is made, the Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve a one or more extension of time for
additiona perios not exceeding 90 days each. Extension requests must be in writing and provide satisfactory reasons why
circumstances beyond the applicants control have prevented action from being taken.
In the event you do not call for the above inspection and receive an extension prior to 05/06/2006, your permit will become null and
void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and associated fees.
