The fire alarm system shall meet the requirements of N.F.P.A. 72 and City Ordinance #1900. 15: H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air - moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main supply -air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. The operating range will be between 115 F and 0 F [46.1 C and -17.8 C] in cooling as standard from the factory. Cooling performance will be rated in accordance with ARI testing procedures. Unit will be factory assembled, internally wired, fully charged with HCFC -22 and 100% run tested to check cooling operation, fan and blower rotation and control sequence before leaving the factory. Wiring internal to the unit will be numbered for simplified identification. Unit will be UL listed and labeled, classified in accordance to UL 1995 /CAN /CSA No. 236 -M90 for Central Cooling Air Conditioners. Canadian unit will be CSA Certified. Unit Casing Unit casing will be constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge, galvanized steel. All components will be mounted in a weather resistant steel cabinet with a painted exterior. Unit surface shall be tested 500 hours in a salt spray test in compliance with ASTM 8117. Where top cover seams exist, they will be double hemmed and gasket sealed to prevent water leakage. Cabinet construction will allow for all maintenance on one side of the unit. Service panels will have handles and shall be removable while providing a water and air tight seal. Control box access will be hinged. Indoor air section will be completely insulated with fire resistant, permanent, odorless, foil faced glass fiber material. The base of the unit will have provisions for crane lifting. Compressors Trane 3 -D Scroll compressors have a simple mechanical design with only three major moving parts. Scroll type compression provides inherently low vibration. 3 -D compliance provides a completely enclosed compression chamber which leads to increased efficiency. Exhaustive testing on the 3D Scroll, including start up with the shell full of liquid, has proven that slugging does not fail involutes. Direct - drive, 3600 rpm, suction gas - cooled hermetic motor. All coils will be leak tested to 200 psig [1379.0 kPa] and pressure tested to 450 psig [3102.8 kPa]. Evaporator coils will be of intermingled configuration. Indoor Fan with High Efficiency Supply Motor Unit will have belt driven, forward curve, centrifugal fans with fixed motor sheaves. The high efficiency supply fan motors will be circuit breaker protected. All supply fan motors meet the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPACT). Outdoor Fans The outdoor fan will be direct -drive statically and dynamically balanced, draw through in the vertical discharge position. The fan motors will be permanently lubricated and have built -in thermal overload protection. Unit Controls Unit shall be completely factory wired with necessary controls and terminal block for power wiring. Units shall provide an extemal location for mounting fused disconnect device. Microprocessor controls will be provided for all 24 volt control functions. The resident control algorithms will make all heating, cooling and /or ventilating decisions in response to electronic signals from sensors measuring indoor and outdoor temperatures. The control algorithm maintains accurate temperature control, minimizes drift from set point and provides better building comfort. A centralized microprocessor shall provide anti -short cycle timing and time delay between compressors to provide a higher level of machine protection. Low Heat Capacity Gas Heat The heating section shall have drum and tube type heat exchanger(s) design with primary and secondary surfaces of corrosion resistant alumanized steel. A forced combustion blower shall supply premixed fuel to a single burner ignited by a pilotless hot surface ignition system. In order to provide reliable operation, a negative pressure gas valve shall be used that requires blower operation to initiate gas flow. On an initial call for heat, the combustion blower shall purge the heat exchanger(s) 45 seconds before ignition. After three unsuccessful ignition attempts, the entire heating system shall be locked out until manually reset at the thermostat. Units shall be suitable for use with natural gas or propane (field installed kit) and also comply with California requirements for low NOx emissions. The input power section will utilize a full wave bridge design incorporating diode rectifiers. The diode rectifiers will convert fixed voltage and frequency, AC line power to fixed DC voltage. The input power section will be insensitive to phase rotation of the AC line. The inverter output power section will change fixed DC bus voltage to adjustable frequency AC voltage. This section will utilize insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) or intelligent power modules (IPMs) as required by the current rating of the motor. The AC Drive will be designed and sized to operate a variable torque fan or pumpload. The speed range will be a minimum 1:3 speed range of 20 to 60 Hertz. The AC Drive is designed to operate from an input voltage of 400 + 15% VAC to 460 + 15% Vac, or 208 VAC -15% to 230 + 15% VAC. The AC Drive will operate from an input voltage frequency range from 50 or 60 Hz t5 %. The system frequency will be user defined via a 50/60 Hz two position selector switch The displacement power factor will not be less than .95 lagging under any speed or load condition. The efficiency of the AC Drive at 100% speed and load will not be less than 96 %. The variable torque rated AC Drive overcurrent capacity will be 110% for 1 minute. The AC Drive will be sized for a given motor load using a randomly modulated 8 kHz output carrier frequency . Upon power -up, the AC Drive will automatically test for valid operation of memory, control power and the pre- charge circuit. The AC Drive will be protected against output phases, and phase to ground, analog output, and logic output short circuits.. The AC drive will have a selectable catch on the fly function to allow the AC Drive to catch a spinning load after brief loss of input mains or fault reset. For a fault condition other than a ground fault, short circuit or internal fault, an auto restart function will provide up to 6 restart attempts in 30 second intervals. The AC drive will have solid state protection that is UL listed and meets UL 508C as a Class 10 overload protection and meets IEC 947. The minimum adjustment range will be from .45 to 1.05% of the current output of the AC drive. The AC drive will have a user selectable auto tune function to automatically send a signal to the connected motor and store the resulting resistance data into memory. The software will have a user selectable energy economy function to optimize the motor efficiency by automatically adjusting the V /Hz ratio for variable torque loads. The operator interface terminal will offer the modification of AC drive adjustments via a touch keypad. All electrical values, configuration parameters, I/O assignments, application and activity function access, faults, local control, adjustment storage, self -test and diagnostics will be in plain English text or codes. The AC drive model number, torque type, software revision number, horsepower, output current, motor frequency and motor voltage will all be listed on the drive identification display as viewed by the user optional PC connection or programming and diagnostics terminal options.. The display will be user configured to display one of the following: frequency reference signal, output controller frequency, motor speed, % of output power, mains voltage, % of motor thermal state, motor current, or % of AC Drive thermal state. Because of the limited nature of work requiring inspection and the uncertain timeframe for those inspections, I have determined NOT to authorize the your request. However, to assure the proper installation of the HVAC support bracing per the approved Engineered design, I will suggest the lowing for consideration by this office. 1. Photographs of the framing installation and framing connections must be provided to the building inspector. Photos must demonstrate how the framing and connection conform to the engineering drawings. 2. The services of a special inspection firm may be utilized to confirm the construction conforms with the engineered plans. 3. The Engineer of record may observe and summit a similar report stating that the work has been completed as had intended in his design. Please confirm your intentions with myself or Bob Benedicto prior to proceeding.
