Attached is a sight line analysis of the HVAC unit proposed for the roof top of the El Charm
Addition. This analysis shows the actual location and height of the unit relative to the parapet
and property lines. This analysis is from the nearest property line which is the north line and
the furthest property line which is the east line. As you can see the unit is below the line of
sight from normal eye height (5 -6 1 from either of the property lines. I did not do an analysis
from the other lines because either the parapet is higher or the property line is closer.
I have also included a catalog cut sheet of the unit which shows the actual dimensions.
Please let me know if there is any additional information you need in order to release the
mechanical permit.

At this time Planning cannot approve the above permit. This project was subject to
design review and the applicant had noted that all mechanical equipment would be
screened from view. The plans submitted for the mechanical permit, show a mechanical
unit extending above the parapet wall. In a letter dated August 8, 2003, the architect for
the project noted, "The parapet will be tall enough to screen the new 3 ton HVAC unit
that will be installed on the top of the roof."
In order for Planning to approve the mechanical permit all mechanical equipment must
be screened from view.
