Council Interview Summary
Preview of Phases 2, 3 and 4
ISSUE
Discussion of Council interviews and preview of Phases 2, 3 and 4.
BACKGROUND
In January 2014, the team presented their findings from Phase 1 of this study, which focused
on the City's current and future needs based on population and forecast employment growth.
Data was presented in terms of square footage as it relates to full-time-equivalent staffing for
the City of Tukwila.
Phase 2 of the Needs Analysis centers on determining how suitable the City's current facilities
are in their ability to meet the longer term needs of the City. Each City facility is being
evaluated in terms of physical condition, ability to meet operational objectives, and square
footage as it relates to the Phase 1 data. An open dialogue with city staff has been
established to add additional perspectives to the day-to-day working environment of these
facilities.
Phase 2 will conclude with the identification of which City of Tukwila facilities appear
reasonable to retain and renovate, and which will likely require replacement in order to meet
the City's long term needs.
DISCUSSION
Briefings have been scheduled for two City Council sessions in April, the first on the 14th, and
a follow-up presentation on the 28th.
At the April 14th briefing, the team will revisit the Council interview summaries and discuss
what Council can expect in Phases 2, 3, and 4, including the methodology for analyzing
alternatives, phasing improvements, and establishing funding.
