Per the Uniform Building Code and /or Uniform Mechanical. Code, every permit issued by the Building Official under the provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from th3 date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days. The Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve a one -time extension up tb 160 days. Extension requests must be in writing and provide satisfactory reasons why circumstances beyond the applicant's control have prevented action from being taken.
