Unfortunately, during the final internal design review, King County identified an electrical supply issue at the Fuel/Wash building that needed correction. Power to the existing fans at the Fuel/Wash building is currently supplied by the emergency power system. However, the electrical code in effect today only allows life safety equipment to be supplied by the emergency power system. As a result, the electrical drawings needed to be revised. To do this, additional design work was needed which resulted in approximately three months of delay to the bidding schedule. The electrical design changes are now complete and King County will advertise this project May, the successful contractor will be identified in June and construction will begin in July 2007. As a result of the electrical design changes to satisfy current code requirements and in light of the current bidding and construction schedule, King County respectfully requests a 90 day extension of the permit application timeline.
