RADIANT HEAT
RADIANT FLOOR APPLICATION
Reflectix' is a perfect choice for insulating below radiant floor
heaters. The aluminum foil reflects 97% of the heat energy that
strikes it. The use of Reflectix' will ensure that you are getting the
best performance possible from the radiant floor system by
reflecting heat that would normally be lost below the radiant
heater.
INSTALLATION UNDER

Ultra -Fin is a hydronic radiant floor heating system designed specifically for wood

Michael S. Bailey, Halifax,
Traditional radiant floor systems are based on heat contact transfer technology, where hui
water tubing makes direct contact with floor layers.
Compared to Ultra -fin, this technology is lethargic and complex, often requiring extra Ilooi
layers or concrete.
Ultra -fin creates new efficiency with a simple innovation: it uses radiant hot -water heat to
create hot air convection in the joist spaces beneath the existing floor, converting the entire
floor system into a giant heat radiator.
The result is uniform warmth and comfort -at a cost and convenience difficult to match .
Wayne & Tricia Samson, Victoria, BC Canada
,,. 111. t, - . , .::
:i!; a s
Ken &Sc Brenda Tamlin
Ultra -Fin doesn't require special flooring to
conduct or distribute heat, and the uniform
quality of Ultra -Fin's heat doesn't damage or limit
the use of hardwood flooring.
UUt
Ultra -Fin delivers more heat w ith a cooler floor
compared to other radiant systems.
Natural convection between floor and ceiling
provides uniform heating, blocks chilling drafts
and eliminates hot and cold spots.
With the entire floor acting as a radiator, each
room warms up quickly, effectively and
efficiently.
e Test Results
t.... .ti
Ultra -Fin's radiant heat doesn't blow dust and
germs through your house like forced air.
No blowing air means no noisy fans, and no
pings, clicks or other noises associated with
expanding or contracting heat ducts.
Ultra -Fin doesn't interfere with furniture
placement or drapes, and it won't clash with
home decor.
Zone controls (thermostats) in individual rooms
allow the heat to be regulated locally, pro\ idins
maximum energy savings.

Ultra -Fin makes it easy to install an efficient, cost- effective heating system in any wood frame home. The
Ultra -Fin System is installed in three steps:
1" holes are drilled through the floor joists approximately 3" below the floor sheathing under each room,
at specified intervals according to the Ultra -Fin healing plan.
? 1/2" (5/8" O.D.) tubing is passed through the holes, starling and ending at the tubing manifold.
The aluminum Ultra -Fins are attached to the tubing in each joist space using pop rivets.
Requires less than 1/3 the tubing of other types
of radiant heating systems.
In most cases, heating loops are able to start and
end at the boiler.
x Allots each room to have separate thermostat
(zone control), permitting variable room
temperatures.
