SECTION 16050 — EXISTING SYSTEMS PART I GFNFRAI 1.1 General: The project includes renovation of existing facilities, including demolition of devices and wiring associated with a variety of systems. The documents are based on record drawings and field surveys in order to locate significant conflicts, they do not show the actual extent of demolition work in temps of device locations and wiring. The contractor shall visit the site and review the existing conditions prior to bid in ceder to confine the general scope of demolition work. 1.2 Conflicts: When a conflict between existing equipment to remain and new work is identified the contractor shall notify the Prime Consultant immediately. PART 7 MATERIALS 2.1 Materials: Existing materials and equipment removed as part of this work may not be reinstalled unless specifically noted on drawings. PART 3 METHODS 3.1 Demolition: Areas of demolition are outlined on the drawings. Equipment and wiring concealed above ceilings and serving areas or equipment outside the demolition area shall remain. Refer to Prime Consultant documents for additional demolition requirements. 3.2 Power Outages: Schedule all electrical systems(s) outages with the Owner. Branch circuit outages shall be scheduled no less than 48 hours in advance. Outages affecting entire panelboards or major equipment feeders shall be scheduled at least one week in advance. SECTION 16100 — BASIC MATERIALS AND METHODS General requirements for materials and installation methods, painting, clean —up, and workmanship. A. Materials: Provide new equipment unless noted otherwise. All equipment shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories or other approved testing organization and shall be an labeled. B. Substitutions: Where substitutions are allowed they shall be reviewed by the Prime Consultant prior to acceptance. C. Painting: Repaint any electrical items scratched or marred in shipment or installation. E. Clean Up: Continually remove debris resulting from the electrical installation work. Clean all electrical equipm at " completion of project. SECTION 16110. — RACEWAYS A. Interior Raceways: Electricals metallic tubing (EMT) with steel compression or set screw fittings. Indentor, drive —on and pressure cast on die cast type set screw fittings are not acceptable. Conceal at raceways in walls an ceiling spaces where ever possible. Where specifically noted surface metal raceways may be used. B. Flexible Raceways Galvanized flexible steel conduit for dry locations. Flexible metallic tubing permitted for light fixture pigtails only. C. Raceway Penetrations:. Penetrations through fire rated construction shall be sealed using 3M Fire Barrier Caulk, Nelson Electric Flameseal or T & B Flamesafe or use other method approved by the Architect: - - SECTION 16120 — CONDUCTORS AND TERMINATIONS A. Copper, insulated for 600V. Type NW, THWN/THHN or - XHHW, X112 AWG minimum. B. Splices: Solderless type only. Preinsulated "twist —on" type (limited to size #10 and smaller). Bolt or compression set type with application of preformed insulated cover, heat shrinkable tubing or plastic insulated tape acceptable for all sizes. C. Terminations: Compression set, .bolted or screw terminal. SECTION 16130 - OUTLET AND PULL BOXES A. Interior Wiring: Pressed steel, zinc coated with plaster ring where applicable. Mount outlet boxes for receptacles and other devices at 18 ", or match misting outlet heights. B. Surface Metal Raceway. Boxes of same manufacturer as raceway. Boxes shall accommodate standard device plates. 16170 — DISCONNECTS AND FUSED SWITCHES A. Provide safety disconnects and fused switches where indicated for equipment and motor connections, and where otherwise required by the specifications.. B. Fused: Same as above with fuse space and clips to accept only Class R fuses. C. Nameplates: Provide permanent nameplate labeling on all disconnects. Include load served, voltage. phase, horsepower, fuse size and type. D. Install disconnects where adequate working clearance is maintained. In ceiling spaces or other locations where clearance is limited the contractor shall review installation with inspector prior to pulling wire to confirm acceptance. Disconnects may be attached to equipment housings only where specifically approved by the Local Code Authority. SECTION 16180 — FUSES A.
