Dear Sir:
The attached set of mechanical plane have been reviewed by
the Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. H.V.A.C. unite rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require
auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately
zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station
supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1900)
H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2 000
cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within
buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff.
Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by
interrupting the power source of the air - moving
equipment upon detection of smoke in the main
supply-air duct served by such equipment. Smoke
detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for
air -duct installation and shall be installed in
accordance with the manufacturer's installation
instructions. (UMC 608)
Duct smoke detectors shall be capable of being reset
from the alarm panel. (City Ordinance #1900)

MAXIMUM AND SHALL BE INSTALLED AT EVERY DUCT TURN AND AT THE END OF THE
DUCT RUN. SIZE AND INSTALL RESTRAINTS PER SMACNA SEISMIC RESTRAINT MANUAL.
3. ALL CEILING MOUNTED DIFFUSERS SHALL HAVE WIRES (16 GA.) ATTACHED TO THE

WIRES, UGHT FIXTURE HANGERS, ETC., FROM HVAC EQUIPMENT OR DUCTWORK.

ELECTRICAL COORDINATION
1. WHERE INDICATED ON EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES, THE EQUIPMENT COMES COMPLETE
FROM THE FACTORY WITH MOTOR CONTROLS AS REQUIRED. ELECTRICIAN SHALL
PROVIDE SERVICE AND A DISCONNECT PER CODE, AND DO ALL POWER WIRING,
INCLUDING CONNECTING TO EQUIPMENT.
2. WHERE INDICATED ON EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES, THE EQUIPMENT REQUIRES FIELD
INSTALLED MOTOR STARTERS. ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND INSTALL

PIECE OF EQUIPMENT REQUIRING MAINTENANCE.
2. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS FOR EACH PIECE OF EQUIPMENT
REQUIRING MAINTENANCE, EXCEPT EQUIPMENT NOT FURNISHED AS PART OF THE
PROJECT. REQUIRED ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ACTIONS SHALL BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED.
3. NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF AT LEAST ONE SERVICE AGENCY.
4. HVAC CONTROLS SYSTEM MAINTENANCE AND CALIBRATION INFORMATION,
INCLUDING WIRING DIAGRAMS, SCHEMATICS, AND CONTROL SEQUENCE DESCRIPTIONS.
DESIRED OR FIELD DETERMINED SET POINTS SHALL BE PERMANENTLY RECORDED ON
CONTROL DRAWINGS AT CONTROL DEVICES, OR FOR DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEMS, IN
PROGRAMMING COMMENTS.
5. A COMPLETE NARRATNE OF HOW EACH SYSTEM IS INTENDED TO OPERATE
INCLUDING SUGGESTED SET POINTS. (SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS)
3. SYSTEM BALANCING:
A. GENERAL HVAC SYSTEMS SHALL BE BALANCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH GENERALLY
ACCEPTED ENGINEERING STANDARDS. AIR AND WATER FLOW RATES SHALL BE MEASURED
AND ADJUSTED TO DELIVER FINAL FLOW RATES WITHIN 10% OF DESIGN RATES. A
WRITTEN BALANCE REPORT SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE OWNER BY THE AGREED UPON
SCHEDULE DATES.
B. AIR SYSTEM BALANCING: AIR SYSTEMS SHALL BE BALANCED IN A MANNER TO
FIRST MINIMIZE THROTTLING LOSSES THEN, FOR FANS WITH SYSTEM POWER OF GREATER
THAN 1 HP, FAN SPEE SHALL BE ADJUSTED TO MEET DESIGN FLOW CONDITIONS,
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
4. SYSTEMS COMMISSIONING
A. SIMPLE SYSTEMS: FOR SIMPLE SYSTEMS, AS DEFINED IN SECTION 1421, AND FOR
WAREHOUSES AND SEMIHEATED SPACES, HVAC CONTROL SYSTEMS SHALL BE TESTED TO
ENSURE THAT CONTROL DEVICES, COMPONENTS, EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS ARE
CALIBRATED, ADJUSTED AND OPERATE IN ACCORD WITH APPROVED PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS. SEQUENCES OF OPERATION SHALL BE FUNCTIONALLY TESTED TO
ENSURE THEY OPERATE IN ACCORD WITH APPROVED PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. A
COMPLETE REPORT OF TEST PROCEDURES AND RESULTS SHALL BE PREPARED AND FILED
WITH THE OWNER BY THE AGREED UPON SCHEDULE DATES.
B. OTHER SYSTEMS: ALL OTHER HVAC CONTROL SYSTEMS, AND OTHER
AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLED SYSTEMS FOR WHICH ENERGY CONSUMPTION,
PERFORMANCE, OR MODE OF OPERATION ARE REGULATED BY THIS CODE, SHALL BE
TESTED TO ENSURE THAT CONTROL DEVICES, EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS ARE
CALIBRATED, ADJUSTED AND OPERATE IN ACCORD WITH APPROVED PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS. SEQUENCES OF OPERATION SHALL BE FUNCTIONALLY TESTED TO
ENSURE THEY OPERATE IN ACCORD WITH APPROVED PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
C. DOCUMENTATION: THE WITNESS TEST CHECKLIST SHALL IDENTIFY THE
FOLLOWING FOR EACH TEST:
1. EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS TO BE TESTED, INCLUDING THE EXTENT OF
SAMPLING TESTS,
2. FUNCTIONS TO BE TESTED (FOR EXAMPLE CALIBRATION, ECONOMIZER
CONTROL, ETC.),
3. CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE TEST SHALL BE PERFORMED (FOR
EXAMPLE WINTER DESIGN CONDITIONS, FULL OUTSIDE AIR, ETC.),
4, MEASURABLE CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE.
5. COMMISSIONING REPORTS
A. PRELIMINARY COMMISSIONING REPORT: A PRELIMINARY COMMISSIONING REPORT
OF TEST PROCEDURES AND RESULTS SHALL BE PREPARED. THE PRELIMINARY REPORT
SHALL IDENTIFY:
1. DEFICIENCIES FOUND DURING TESTING REQUIRED BY THIS SECTION WHICH HAVE
NOT BEEN CORRECTED AT THE TIME OF REPORT PREPARATION AND THE ANTICIPATED
DATE OF CORRECTION.
2. DEFERRED TESTS WHICH CANNOT BE PERFORMED AT THE TIME OF REPORT
PREPARATION DUE TO CLIMATIC CONDITIONS.
3. CLIMATIC CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE DEFERRED TESTS,
AND THE ANTICIPATED DATE OF EACH DEFERRED TEST.
B. FINAL COMMISSIONING REPORT: A COMPLETE REPORT OF TEST PROCEDURES AND

II. COMPUTER SERVER ROOM EXHAUST FAN (EF -1)
EF -1 provides back —up ventilation for Server Room and in controlled by a line
voltage thermostat, (provided and installed by C.C.).
1. Exhaust Fan EF -1 remains off.
2. Line voltage thermostat will energize and de— energize exhaust fon starter to
maintain space temperature setpoint of 80 deg F (adjustable).

4. INSTALLER SHALL USE A DRY NITROGEN PURGE AND BRAZING ALLOY WHEN
BRAZING THE FIELD LINE TO THE COPPER FACTORY CONNECTION. FLOW DRY NITROGEN
INTO EITHER VALVE PRESSURE TAP PORT, THRU THE TUBING AND OUT THE OTHER PORT
WHILE BRAZING.
5. AFTER BRAZING OPERATION OF REFRIGERANT LINES TO BOTH OUTDOOR AND
INDOOR UNIT IS COMPLETED, THE FIELD BRAZED CONNECTIONS MUST BE CHECKED FOR
LEAKS, PRESSURIZE THROUGH THE SERVICE VALVE PORTS, THE INDOOR UNIT AND FIELD
REFRIGERANT LINES WITH DRY NITROGEN TO 200 PSI. USE SOAP BUBBLES OR OTHER
LEAK- CHECKING METHODS TO SEE THAT ALL FIELD JOINTS ARE LEAK FREE. REPAIR ANY
LEAKS AND RECHECK BEFORE CHARGING SYSTEM TO COMPLETE CHARGE.
6. INSULATE REFRIGERANT SUCTION LINE WITH 3/4" THICK PRE - FORMED,
ELASTOMERIC INSULATION TUBING: "ARMAFLEX ", "RUBATEK ", OR EQUAL.
7. SOLEL:CID VALVE REQUIRED (ONE PER CIRCUIT) ON SIZE U.S TON. UNITS AND ABOVE.
INSTALL LIQUID LINE SOLENOID VALVE AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO EXPANSION VALVE
(BY REFERIGERATION CONTRACTOR). WIRING BETWEEN CONDENSING UNIT & SOLENOID VALVE
BY CONTROLS CONTRACTORS.
8, LOCATE A PRESSURE TAP NEAR THE EQUALIZER LINE CONNECTION FOR SUPERHEAT
