Reference is made to Permit No. M98 -0029 Inspection Record (copy attached for convenience). . 1. Penetrations into and serving the two rated stair lobbies shall be fitted with fire dampers. The fire dampers are mistakenly not shown on the contract documents. We' agree that firo dampers in these two locations are required. However, five (5) fire dampers that ARE shown on the contract drawing M102 shall be deleted pending Tukwila Fire Marshal approval. See succeeding item 2. Delete 5 fire dampers, add 2 fire dampers. 2. The five (5) fire dampers, shown on contract drawing M 102, first floor, are not required to our knowledge. (Tukwila Fire Marshal concurrance is needed.) The CMU wall is not intended to be a rated fire wall separation. The occupancy classification on each side of the wall is the same, The "walkway" between the cubicle movable partitions and the CMU wall is NOT a corridor, The "walkway" is simply part of the room. The CMU wall uses a non - fire rated door and has large relights that are also not fire rated. It is our understanding, that this CMLJ wall was never intended nor d 7cumented to be a fire rated wall. However, there are fire rated walls with fire rated doors between the office area and the stairwell lobbies. (See item 1 above.) 3. It is our,understanding that only Fire damper; are required where ducts penetrate fire rated walls to maintain fire ratir g integrity. This Section describes the project in general, and provides an overview of the extent of the work to be performed under this Contract. The Contractor shall, except as otherwise specifically stated herein any applicable parts of the Contract Documents, provide and pay for all labor, materials, equipment, tools, construction equipment, taxes, licenses, permits, inspection fees, and other facilities and services necessary for proper execution, testing, and completion of Work under this Contract. 1.02 DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. The work described below will be accomplished at King County's Unit Repair facility. In general, the work will consist of, but not be limited to, the listed items. B. Work at Unit Repair. 1. Remove 5 AC rooftop units and accessories. 2. Remove existing supply ductwork from upper and lower level office spaces. 3. Clean existing ductwork to be used in the new systems. 4. Create a new mechanical room in space provided on the existing Mezzanine. 5. Provide a new multizone unit, 2 rooftop condensing units, and hot water piping to serve the upper and lower level offices. Also provide the necessary ductwork to serve each of the zones in the office spaces. 6. Provide 3 new rooftop AC units. Provide new gas piping to serve as the fuel for these units. 7. Repair roofing, close all penetrations associated with the HVAC rehabilitation work. Provide walkway pads on the roof. 8. Replace ceiling in room where HVAC - related work occurs. 9. Provide and modify electrical system to accommodate the new HVAC equipment. 10. Provide Direct Digital Control system for the new HVAC equipment. 1.03 EXISTING UTILITIES A. In general, the locations of existing major utilities, whether aboveground or underground, are indicated on the Drawings. This information has been obtained from utility maps and field surveys. King County does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of this information, and it is to be understood that other aboveground or underground facilities not shown on the Drawings may be encountered during the course of the work. In any case, most minor lines such as water, gas and sewer services, and sprinkler irrigation lines are not indicated. B. Maintain sprinkler coverage per N.F.P.A. 13. Addition /relocation of walls, closets or partitions may require relocating and /or adding sprinkler heads. Sprinkler protection shall be extended to all areas where required, including all enclosed areas, below obstructions and under overhangs greater than four feet wide. (NFPA 13- 4- 4.1.3.2.1) 2. All new sprinkler systems and all modifications to existing sprinkler systems shall have fire department review and approval of drawings prior to installation or modification. New sprinkler systems and all modifications to sprinkler systems involving more than 50 heads shall have the written approval of the W.S.R.B., Factory Mutual, Industrial Risk Insurers, Kemper or any other representative designated and /or recognized by The City of Tukwila, prior to submittal to the Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau. No sprinkler work shall commence without approved drawings. (City Ordinance #1742) All sprinkler system plans, calculations and the contractors Materials and Test Certificates submitted to The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau must be stamped with the appropriate level of competency seal. H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1742) H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air - moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main supply -air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. (UMC 608) Duct smoke detectors shall be capable of being reset from the alarm panel. (City Ordinance #1742) Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. (City Ordinance #1742) In areas that are not continuously occupied, automatic smoke detection shall be provided at each control unit(s) location to provide notification of fire at that location. (NFPA 1 -5.6) 4. All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau.
