The existing cooling unit in existence is 3 -1/2 -ton in capacity and utilizes a 15 Kw strip heater for heating. Because the office area was being expanded by some 152 square feet, we decided to run a heat loss and heat gain calculation to show Summit Communications that the existing air - conditioners and electric heat unit is capable of handling the remodeled and slightly expanded interior office space. 2) For specifics concerning the office HVAC remodel, please refer to the attached drawing, as well as the heat gain and heat loss calculations. All duct installed in this zone, as well as the computer room, will be 24 -gauge metal and will be wrapped with 3 -inch microlite insulation, having an insulation value of R -8. A fresh air intake will be installed 8- inches in diameter, pulling in outside air from the rooftop fresh air vent. A seven day, Honeywell pro- grammable thermostat- will be installed having a fan- auto -on selector switch, as well as a system selector switch (off, heat, .cool :and:heat. ) 1) This is the expanded area containing the ever - increasing computer equipment that is used to run the Summit Comminications business. The customer has requested that we try to maintain the computer room at 68 In main- taining the temperature at 68 F, we feel it will be easier to accomplish this task by not using an economizer. H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto- shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1742) H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air - moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main supply -air duct served by such equipment.
