Keefe, Fire Chief The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: 1. H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1742) H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic Shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air - moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main supply -air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. (UMC 608) 2. Duct smoke detectors shall be capable of being reset from the alarm panel. (City Ordinance #1742) Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. (City Ordinance #1742) 3. In areas that are not continuously occupied, automatic smoke detection shall be provided at each control unit(s) location to provide.notification of fire at that location. (NFPA 72- 1- 5.5.4) 4. When the control panel is located inside a room, the door to the room shall have a sign with one -inch letters which reads "Fire Alarm" or "Fire Alarm Control ". (City Ordinance #1742) Dedicated fire alarm system circuit breaker(s) shall ' be equipped with a mechanical lockout device. (NFPA 72 (1- 5.2.8.2)) 5. All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of The Tukwila F4,,re Prevention Bureau. No work shall commence until a fire department permit has been obtained. (City Ordinance #1742) (UFC 1001.3) Contact The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau to witness all required inspections and tests.
