GAS "ODOR FADE" Some people, such as the eldery, ill and physically impaired cannot detect the strong chemical smell which the Propane /L.P. gas suppliers use to identify this gas. In addition, smoking or allergies can affect your ability to detect the gas smell. Your Propane /L.P. gas supplier can provide you, free of charge, a "Scratch and Sniff" brochure which allows ALL members of the household to become familiar with the smell of Propane /L.P. gas. Take advantage of this opportunity and call your gas supplier for this informational brochure. The odorant in Propane /L.P. gas is colorless , and can fade under certain circumstances. Underground piping can leak, causing the gas to be filtered through the dirt before it reaches the surface. In addition, Propane /L.P. gas is subject to odor fade due to oxidation (rusting) of the inside of the Propane /L.P. storage tanks or the inside of iron gas piping systems. The odorant in escaping gas can also be absorbed into all types of common household items such as drapes, carpeting, masonry and clothing. It is also possible for Propane /L.P. gas to become layered or "stratified ". This condition results in a difference of intensity of the Propane /L.P. odor at different levels within the same room. As noted before, Propane /L.P. gas is heavier than air, so it is most likely that the strongest concentration of gas will be at the lowest level in the room. IF YOU DETECT ANY GAS ODOR IMMEDIATELY TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTION TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY AND PROPERTY BY FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS. UNPACK YOUR FURNACE: Unpack the unit from the carton. Remove the styrofoam protection and the plastic bag. Examine all packing material looking for loose parts before discarding. Mark I : Remove and discard the two shipping screws on the right and left rear of the unit. Push up and lift the front cover to take it off. Remove the Wall Mounting Plate from the unit by removing the four (4) hex nuts on the inside back cover. Lift the unit up off the Wall Mounting Plate. Retain the nuts for later reinstallation. Mark II & III : The loose painted sheet iron is the Wall Mounting Plate. Remove the two bolts, washers and nuts that hold the cover to the back cover at the bottom. They may be discarded. Remove the four(4) hex nuts on the back of the back cover. Retain them for securing the unit to the Wall Mounting Plate. LOCATING THE ORBIS MARK SERIES SPACE HEATERS: When choosing a location for your ORBIS Mark Series Direct Vent Wall Furnace, please remember that the Vent Kit supplied with the unit must be installed WITHOUT alteration, with exception of cutting the vent tubes to length, as directed in these instructions. In addition, the finished vent cap must be located at least 9" (228mm) from any opening through which flue gases could enter the building. The bottom of the vent cap AFTER installation must be at least 12" (305mm) above ground level, on the outside wall. The minimum distance from the CENTER of the vent cap to the nearest outside corner of the obstruction is 24" (610mm). Manufactured from traditional cast iron for strength and durability, the DV400 uses an advanced flame technology for maximum fuel efficiency and high heat output levels. Our direct vent system features a sealed combustion chamber and two -way intake /exhaust. Outside air is drawn through the system to feed the fire, so no warmed room air is lost up the chimney. This means you'll get a maximum net heating efficiency high- er than any conventionally designed gas stove. Direct venting also offers more installation options. You can vent it up through the roof or out through a wall, so you can put it, almost anywhere. The DV400, versatile, prac- tical and beautiful. You are $6,369 better off with the SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater. Based on the following assumptions: 1 SETS Model S Electronic Tankless Water Heater vs. GE SmartWater 80 Gallon Electric Water Heater. 2The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that 25% of the average household's monthly electric bill is spent to produce hot water using a conventional tank -type electric water heater. NASA'S Transfer of Technology and Success Story web sites state that the component that NASA engineers designed for the SETS Tankless Water Heater, which was patented by SETS Systems, will allow it to reduce what the average household spends to heat water for the home by 50 %. This translates to a 12.5% (50% of 25 %) reduction in your total monthly electric bill. If your monthly electric bill averages $200, your savings would amount to $25 per month or $6,000 over 20 years! A family whose total electric bill is just $100 per month would save $3,000 over the same 20 year period. Let's be conservative and say the SETS unit will only last 10 years and your monthly electric bill is only $100. You will still save $1,500 of the money you would have spent to produce hot water using a conventional tank -type water heater. http://www.tankless-water-heater.com/cost_compare.htm 9/'18/99 ,,,:, x:. r, na :M'AWAsar:aWM0.2aV.taktOWs"1Jlr i; MMTA 1YC.' There Is no way to avoid the inevitable corrosion that will eventually cause a conventional water heater to rupture. The process of re- heating water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year causes sediment to collect on the bottom of the tank. This sediment is composed of calcium, lime and other corrosive materials. The SETS Tankless Water Heater has no tank and only heats the water once, when you use it. 4 When the tank ruptures and water leaks into your garage, its not so bad. However, many conventional tank -type hot water heaters are located In closets or laundry rooms inside homes. A leak can cause damage to wood floors, carpets, drywall, baseboards, furniture, and clothing. How much? Until it happens, no one can say. The units are about 1 /20th the size of a conventional 80 gallon tank -type water heater. Just imagine what you can do with that additional storage space. Bagk_tQ_Top Are there any special plumbing or electrical requirements? The unit is designed as a replacement for a conventional tank -type water heater. Any plumber can install it wherever the existing unit is located. The unit is designed to use the same 208 - 240 volt current that your conventional tank -type water heater uses. A 60 amp breaker must be installed if you do not already have one. This should be done by an electrician. Complete Installation Instructions and a User Guide are included with each unit. Tankless Water Heaters by SEC, electronic, tankless, water, heaters, her, nasa, Page 2 of 4 Is the SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater UL listed? The SETS Model S is the only. Electronic Tankless Water Heater that is UL listed for whole -house use, no matter what a competitor may claim, and we have the UL publication to prove it. Underwriting Laboratories inspects our manufacturing facility every three months to insure compliance with UL's stringent safety requirements. BfIek to Top What is the warranty period? The SETS product line is covered by a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and a two year parts replacement warranty on all other parts. All of the parts are manufactured and assembled in the USA and, unlike conventional tank -type water heaters, are 100% replaceable. Beck to Tip What parts are likely to wear out after the warranty, where can I get them, and how much do they cost? The overall life expectancy of the SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater is 20 years, much longer than a conventional tank -type water heater. The only parts that are likely to wear out after the expiration of the 2 year parts replacement warranty are the heating elements. They are the same type of heating elements that you have in your conventional tank -type water heater. However, they will last much longer for the simple reason that they are only on when you turn on a hot water tap or shower. They can be purchased from us or any plumbing supply company for between $7 -$9 each. Back to_Top Will one unit be sufficient for my house or condominium? Yes, unless you have a large house in which several people typically use hot water at the same time. The unit in my three bedroom, two bathroom house has been in operation for over a year. Its not unusual for two people to be showering at the same time, or for the clothes - or dish- washer to be in operation while I'm in the shower. The only difference that I notice is that I don't run out of hot water like I did when I had my 80 gallon tank -type water heater. http://vvww.tankless-water-heater.com/taq,html 9/18/99 . Tankless Water Heaters by SE - C electronic, tankless, water, heaters, h ter, nasa, Page 3 of 4 Back to Ton. What's unique about the SETS product line? I'm glad you asked. The SETS product line, as stated on NASA's own website, will reduce your hot water heating costs by up to 50 %, while providing an endless supply of hot water. Unlike your existing tank - type hot water heater, the materials used in its construction resist corrosion so you won't experience water leaks from ruptured tanks that can ruin carpets, baseboards, drywall, etc. You reclaim the space once occupied by your outdated conventional tank -type hot water heater, because the SETS unit mounts on the wall. The SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater is the only one equipped with the patented, NASA - designed flow switch. NASA designed it at our request for our products, we patented it, and no similar product manufactured anywhere in the world has it, period. It's the NASA design that makes the SETS unit unique; by sensing the flow of water passing through the unit, the flow switch regulates the current to the heating elements and prevents scalding, while keeping the water at the temperature you select. Brick_to Ton Why is the SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater so economical? A conventional tank -type water heater must keep 40 -80 gallons of water heated to between 120° -160° F. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year. Now compare that to how many minutes a day you actually turn on a hot water tap, shower, clothes- or dish- washer, etc. The SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater only consumes electricity when you use hot water! Bingo! Bask tQ Top How does the SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater prevent scalding injuries? Scalding occurs when water that is kept at a temperature of between 120 ° -160° F. in a conventional tank -type water heater is allowed to flow from a faucet or shower without being mixed with cold water. When an adult encounters water that is too hot, they have the presence of mind and the ability to adjust the mixture and avoid scalding. When this happens to a child or infant, with or without intervention from an adult, the results can range from mild discomfort to third degree burns. If you or someone you know has been involved in a scalding injury, visit www,tap- water= born, com or email vjpetrl @petrilaw,com for a free consultation and to learn the facts http://www.tankless-water-heateccomitag.html 9/18/99 Tankless Water Heaters by SE . electronic, tankless, water, heaters, h ,r, nasa, about scalding injuries. The NASA - designed flow switch in the SETS Electronic Tankless Water Heater controls the temperature of the water by sensing the flow of water through the pipes and adjusting the current to the heating elements accordingly. Whether one or two people are using hot water at the same time, the water is kept at the same temperature. You set the temperature once by adjusting a knob at the base of the unit. Hint: I set my SETS Model Sat a temperature slightly higher than I like It when the hot water valve Is full on and the cold water valve Is full off That way I don't waste energy by heating water and then mixing it with cold water in order to use it •Bitc_k to Top table of contents main Rage I products & orders J co$ ompariso J fags nasaLspin -off I nasa success tory. installation instructions I friends in the business Contact us for information or to place an order at salgs(atankies water- heater.com or call 1- 954 - 545 -0373 or fax 1- 954 -784 -7060 For support contact support@sets- systems.com Powered OPEN MARKED / http://www.tankless-water-heater.corn/faq.html Page 4 of 4 1..µ.
