The new units are equal in weight or are less than the weight of the existing units that they are replacing. The footprint of the existing unit is slightly larger than the existing mechanical platform, as field- verified by your personnel. It is our recommendation that, to accommodate the slightly larger unit footprint, two (2) 16 -gauge angles be attached to the bottom of each of the new units, so as to distribute the load back to the existing mechanical platform. This will effectively recreate the original Load path and therefore will not impact the structural integrity of the roof assembly. Barring any unforeseen field conditions, no further structural remediation will be required. H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1742) H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air- moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main supply -air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions.
