Intermittently operated whole house ventilation systems shall be constructed to have the capability for continuous operation, and shall have a manual control and an automatic control, such as a clock timer. 2. Integrated forced -air ventilation systems shall have a 6 -inch diameter or equivalent outdoor air inlet duct connecting a terminal element on the outside of the building to the return plenum of the forced -air system. The outdoor air inlet duct shall be equipped with a damper or other device that regulates air flow to a minimum of 0.35 air changes per hour but not greater than 0.50 air changes per hour under normal operating conditions. The outdoor air connection to the return air stream shall be located to prevent thermal shock to the heat exchanger. 3.
