Dear Mike:
As you requested we checked the roof framing for the new Roof Top
Unit weighing 565 lbs. I had reviewed several other buildings at
South Center Corporate Square earlier this year for new roof top
units and had taken some notes on the roof framing. X reviewed the
notes to verify the purlin size and spacing information that you
gave us. The plans that we had for these buildings called out 4x12
purlins at 8' -0" oc framing into 5 -1/8 x 25 -1 /2 glu -lam beams at
16' -0" oc., and 2x4 subpurlins at 16" oc. During my site visit to
review the framing I found 4x12 and 4x14 purlins with average
spacings of 4'--0" oc at the vicinity of the main roof top unit.
I checked a 4x12 purlin (spaced at 48" oc) for the new roof top
unit load along with the 4' tributary roof load. The 4x12 purlin
can support the new roof top unit by locating it as shown on the
attached partial roof framing plan. Please note that you will need
to add a 4x6 to support one edge of the roof top unit.
Please verify the size and spacing of the purlins to confirm that
they are 4x12's at 48" oc. If you have any questions, please call -
me.

Dear Sir:
The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require
auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately
zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station
supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1742)
H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000
cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within
buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff.
Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by
interrupting the power source of the air- moving
equipment upon detection of smoke in the main
supply -air duct served by such equipment. Smoke
detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for
air -duct installation and shall be installed in
accordance with the manufacturer's installation
instructions. (UMC 608)
