'Standard line size
NOTES:
10 This chart is applicable for heat pumps.
(9 If the separation height exceeds the table values, Increase the outdoor flow-check piston two sizes plus one
size for each additional 10 feet 13.05 ml.
Example 1: A 5 ton 17.58 kWj heat pump with a total line length of 100 feet 30.48 nil with a vertical
separation of 93 feet 128.35 m] utilizing a 3 /a' (9.53 mm] liquid line: Table = 72 feet [21.95 m ] maximum
vertical separation for 100 feet 30.48 m] run. Separation exceeds table by (93-72) = 21 feet 16.40 mj.
Therefore, reduce the Indoor coil flow-check piston 2 4 2 = 4 sizes (For example, a 089 piston would reduce
to a #85 piston). Increase the outdoor flow-check piston 2 + 2 = 4 sizes (For example, a /56 would increase
to a 060).
0 Do not exceed 120 feet (36.58 ml maximum vertical separation.
® No changes are required for expansion valve coils,
Li) Do not exceed table values for capillary tube coils.
® Always use the smallest liquid line possible to minimize system charge.
(D For heat pumps with vertical separation: • Route liquid line outside building • Do not insulate liquid line.
CO Chart may be used to size horizontal runs.
NOTES:
(I) This chart is applicable for heat pumps. Heat pumps with any vertical
separation require the use of standard line sizes only, due to the possibility of
charge imbalance between heating and cooling modes.
Example 1: A 3 ton [10.55 kW] hear pump with a total line length of 50 feet
15.24 m] can have a maximum vertical separation of 19 feet [5.79 m]. Do not
Increase line size to 3 /s" 19.53 mrn).
m This chart may also be used to size horizontal runs.
Example 2: A 1.5 ton [5.28 kW] heat pump can have a total horizontal line
length of 150 feet [45.72 m] when using the 5 /16' [7.94 mm] liquid line size.
No vertical separation allowed.
0 Do not exceed vertical separation as indicated on the chart.
® Always use the smallest liquid line possible to minimize system charge.
® No changes required for flow-check pistons or expansion valve coils.
Heat Punt Refrigerant Lingf"'ize Information
NOTES: Capacity Multiplier x Ra ed Capacity = Actual Capacity.
Additional compressor oil is not required for runs up to 150 feet 45.72 ml.
Oil traps in vertical runs are not required for any height up to 100 feet [30.48 m]. See Liquid Line chart for Vertical Separation Requirements and Limitations.

Watt - restrictor
Supplemental heat, provided by electric heating elements may be necessary in some areas
when heating requirements for indoor comfort exceed the capacity of the heat pump system.
When supplemental heat is required, units with the Watt Restrictor will restrict the amount of
supplemental electric heat that can be energized dependent on the heat output of the heat
pump (temperature of the air leaving the indoor heat pump coil).
The Watt - restrictor utilizes sensing devices in the unit to measure the air leaving the indoor
coil and disengage unnecessary heating elements when that temperature is at least 90 °F.
(In this mode your system is controlled by the first stage of the wall thermostat.) This occurs
only when the second stage of the wall thermostat calls for heat.
Since the heat output of the heat pump is dependent upon the outdoor air temperature, this
control performs the same function as a field installed outdoor thermostat.
An additional benefit of the Watt Restrictor is that it can sense a degradation in heat pump
performance due to causes other than outdoor temperature and react accordingly to bring
on more supplemental electric heat.

Airflow P .Jrmance .
Airflow performance data is based on cooling performance
with wet coil and filter In place. Select performance table for
appropriate unit size, voltage and number of electric heaters to
be used. Make sure external static applied to unit allows opera-
tion within the minimum and maximum limits shown in table
below for both cooling and electric heat operation. For optimum
blower performance, operate the unit in the .2 to .5 inches W.C.
external static range. Units with coils should be applied with a
minimum of .1 inch W.C. external static range. Units without coils
Airflow Ooeratinq Limits
Airflow Performance Data
For 115, 460 and 575 volt units use 230 volt data shown above.
For 220 volt 50 HZ, use 230 volt shown (CFM x .80, watts x .80).
For 240 volt 50 HZ, use 230 volt shown (CFM x .85, watts x .85).
For 380 volt 50 HZ, use 208 volt shown (CFM x .85, watts x .85).
For 415 volt 50 HZ, use 230 volt shown (CFM x .83, watts x .83).
should be applied with a minimum of .2 inches W.C. external
static pressure. In general, the indoor motor speed tap should be
as shown in table for the appropriate cooling capacity shown;
however, at extremes of external static, voltage and number of
heaters the higher or lower speed tap may be necessary or more
desirable. Always check to make sure proper motor speed tap is
connected as units are shipped from the factory connected for
high speed operation.
WARNING: Observe airflow operating limits If operating In shaded area of al flaw table.
For 50 HZ operation, do not exceed .5 external static.
