We have been manufacturing gas -fired infrared healing systems since 1958. The quality and performance of our heaters are based on over 30 years of field experience and exposure to In- dustrial heating problems. Our reputation is built upon a solid track record for providing highly radiant efficient, easyto install and high quality infrared heating equipment. When you specify Space -Ray, you are invest- ing in an uncompromised commitment to product performance and reliability. We take pride in our entire family of infrared heaters and our commitment to quality standards in the design, manufacture and performance of Space -Ray heaters— heaters with low main- tenance at a competitive price, and a proven record for long life. In fact, some heaters are still providing trouble -free operation after 29 years of service. HEATING TECHNOLOGY FOR THE '90s Infrared heating is quickly becoming the pre- ferred alternative to traditional forced air vs 446 , 1111N heating. Every year, more and more consult. ing engineers, plant engineers, and contrac- tors are specifying infrared heating as a cost efficient alternative to forced air healing sys- tems. The bottom line has been, and remains, energy cost savings. In forced air heating systems, energy dollars must be spent constantly to heat, circulate and re - heat the cold air. Forced air works from the top down. heating the air in the upper section of the building and stratifying from the ceiling downward. This makes the floor area the last and most difficult to heat. In contrast. the principles of radiant heating are very similar to the sun's hear energy warming the surface of the earth but not the atmosphere. With radiant healing, the radiant energy generated by the infrared tube heater warms the people, floor slab. machines and other objects at the floor level without healing the air. The thermal mass gener- ated is retained at the floor level, thus creating a comfortable working environment In many instances, buildings heated with forced air have a high temperature differential (as much as 30*-40°F) between the floor and the ceiling. Similar buildings heated with Space -Ray Infrared tube heaters usually have a much more uniform temperature distribution throughout the building. It Is not uncommon to find a high -bay building heated with infrared where the ceiling tempera- ture is at a slightly lower temperature than the floor slab. 30-50% FUEL SAVINGS Based on the difference in operating principles, and our commitment to the manufacture of high quality radiant efficient heaters, Space -Ray Infrared Fomea air waits from the t and stratiytng ham the i wasted In upper lietfient hcar works from the and =chin= ran Casino lower working lava NEW INCLINE Increase the cable space in by mourning Srarn.Ray the beams to to the SZOilUO&1 tiSI'IddV costs healing systems can save a building owner 30 to 50 %in annual fuel cos when compared to forced air healing systems. Some Space -Ray custom- ers report less than a one year payback on their energy efficient infrared hearing systems. And, with a Space -Ray system. your investment pay back accrues not only from reduced energy costs, but from reduced maintenance costs, too. SPACE -RAY INFRARED TUBE HEATERS In 1966, when the Space -Ray engineering team invented the first unitized low - intensity infrared tube heater, they concentrated on two major design criteria to maximize the radiant output of the heaters. They were; to develop a highly emissive emitter surface and to maintain high eis, itter tube temperatures. As defined by the Stefan- Boltzman equation of black -body radiation, the higher the emis- sivity of the emitter, the higher the radiant output that will be produced. For this reason, Space -Ray utiTtzes only calorized- aluminized steel emitters for high emissivity. The meas- ured emissivity of Space -Ray infrared tube heaters varies between 0.83 and 0.86. The colorized emitter surface produces a highly absorptive interior tube surface and a highly emissive exterior tube surface. This, in turn, maximizes the radiant energy transfer from the luminous flame. Space -Ray field experi- ence shows that the calorization process increases the corrosion resistance of the emitter surface and the longevity of the emit- ter. Some Space -Ray users report an average emitter life of over 18 years, even in an 11,000 degree day operating environment Another major determinant of the Stefan- Bottzman equation is the emitter temperature. Space -Ray maximizes its emitter tube temperatures through the use of colorized emitters as well as the use of a totally enclosed reflector design. The highly efficient aluminum reflectors, with a reflectivity rating of 97.5 %, direct virtually all the radiant energy produced towards the working area below. op down, heating the air first m'ting downward More heat area d building, bottom up, warning people. floors /fable Mal is retained in of your bundle'. ~ ~ ANOTHER EXCLUSIVE FROM SPACE -RAY: COMPUHEXP COMPUTERIZED ANALYSIS As an integral part of our customer support serv- ice program, our application engineers are trained to perform a thorough study of your building's heating requirements. A computer heat loss analysis is done free of charge and Is used as the basis for our recommendations for equipment installation.
