H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped w i t h an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air- moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main supply -air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct i n s t a l l a t i o n and shall be i n s t a l l e d in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. (UMC 608) H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfrn require auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. Unit's surface shall be tested 500 hours in a salt spray test in compliance with ASTM 8117. Cabinet construction shall allow for all maintenance on one side of the unit. Service panels shall have lifting handles and be removed and reinstalled by removing not more than three screws on the unit while providing a water and air tight seal. The downflow unit's base pan shall have no penetrations within the perimeter of the curb other than the raised 1 /e" high supply /return openings to provide an added water integrity precaution, if the condensate drain backs up.
