Attendance: Commissioners Cynthia Chesak, Brian Kennedy, Trisha Gilmore Absent: Steve Mullet Staff Stephanie Gardner Parks and Recreation Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the February 4, 2014 meeting were unanimously approved. Citizen Comment: no citizen comment t©;;··z Not Applicable Business Items Commissioner Application Review: The Commission reviewed two applications from those interested i joining the Arts Commission. One application is from a citizen s from a student. Stephanie will schedule a meeting with each applicant to meet with Cynthia Ches future. Military Road Play Update: Cynthia Chesak provided a progress update regarding the Milit by Foster High School Students. Her update is as follows: Military Road is an original play about the Duwamish Valley during 1855 to 1856. It depicts the life of homesteaders at that time and the reason for the road to be built and how the forthcoming creation of Military Road will change their lives and the growth of this area. The script is a collaboration of Foster High School theatre stud Rachel Atkins. The project is paid for through funding from Tukwila Arts Commis Performances are scheduled for May 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. in the Foster Performing A Tickets at the door, $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and students with ASB. thth 18 Annual Tukwila Days Art Show: Stephanie distributed the Call for Artists for the 18 Annual Tukwila Days Art Show and asked that commissioners consider assisting wi show reception. Orb Update piece that the Commission purchased in th made by Brian Kennedy that City Staff review the Orb to determine if it can be repaired. Cynthia Chesak seconded the mo carried. 1% sub Committee: Stephanie informed the Commission that a sub-committee will be formed soon to determine how the 1% for the arts initiative should be implement Other Meeting Time Change: Brian Kennedy made a motion to change the meeting to 5:00 pm instead of 5:30 pm. Cynthia Chesak seconded ion, all were in favor and the motion carried. CASTT Update: Cynthia Chesak provided an Fiction. Stephanie is ordering scripts. PAC Summer Repairs: Cynthia informed the Commission of repairs and maintenance to be completed at the PAC during the summer of 2014. PROS Plan Distribution: Stephanie distributed copies of the newly adopted Parks, Recreation and Space Plan. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm. Next Meeting: May 6, 2014, 5:00 pm
