KVAMME CONSULTING SEPTEMBER 24, 1993 MIKE STEPHENS NON -STOP, INC. 19926 53rd AVENUE W, LYNWOOD, WA 98036 PROJECT: NON -STOP BAR & GRILL PROJECT NUMBER: 93096 Mr Stephens, Per my conversation with Wendle and Dale on 9/22/93, the 7 -ton mechanical unit over the dining room area had to be moved alaong the length of the existing 4x14 beam so that the heavy end of the unit is about 3' from one post and the light end is directly over another post. This unit was originally designed to bear directly over one post. The resulting stresses to the 4x14 beam are acceptable and therefore the position of this unit is acceptable. If you have any questions on this or any other project, please feel free to call me. SINCERELY, DALE A. TUKWILA, WA. 98188 ATTN: KEN NELSEN RE: NON —STOP BAR & GRILL (JOB #M93 - 0094) I AM SENDING THIS LETTER IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REQUEST PER OUR PHONE CONVERSATION ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1993. IN IT I WILL OUTLINE THE PROPOSED OPERATION OF THE ROOF — MOUNTED H.V.A.C. EQUIPMENT TO SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH THE INDOOR AIR QUALITY CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR FRESH AIR. IN THE INDUSTRY, UNITS ARE RATED FOR A NOMINAL 400 CFM PER TON. I WAS INFORMED BY OUR SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE UNITS PROPOSED FOR THIS JOB ARE CAPABLE OF A WIDE RANGE OF SUPPLY AIR QUANTITIES DEPENDING ON WHICH SPEED THE BLOWER MOTOR IS WIRED FOR. HE ALSO VERIFIED THAT THE ECONOMIZERS INCLUDED WITH EACH UNIT CAN BE SET WITH A MINIMUM POSITION TO ALLOW FOR 100% FRESH AIR. I HAVE ATTACHED PAGES FROM THE SPECIFICATIONS THAT INDICATE THE AMOUNT OF AIR THAT THE UNITS CAN SUPPLY. IN ORDER TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF FRESH AIR INTO THE SPACE, WE WOULD HAVE EACH OF THE UNIT BLOWERS WIRED ON THE HIGH— SPEED SETTING ALONG WITH THE ECONOMIZERS HAVING A MINIMUM 100% OUTDOOR AIR SETTING. THIS ARRANGEMENT WOULD PROVIDE A TOTAL OF 9931 CFM OF FRESH AIR INTO THE SPACE. I HOPE THIS INFORMATION WILL MEET WITH YOUR APPROVAL. Chicago), an accessory fuse block with fuses (2F804700348) Is available for field Installation. FIELD- INSTALLED ACCESSORIES SINGLE INPUT ELECTRONIC ENTHALPY ECONOMIZER - Includes a slide -in / plug -in damper assembly with fully modulating spring return motor actuator capable of introducing up to 100% outdoor air, one outdoor air electronic enthalpy sensor and a rainhood with filters. The rainhood is painted to match the basic unit and must be field - assembled before installation. Economizer dampers are 2% low leakage type. The fixed outdoor air damper (shipped as standard equipment with every unit) can be used for barometric relief on units with an economizer. DUAL INPUT ELECTRONIC ENTHALPY ECONOMIZER - Includes the same damper system and rainhood with filters as described for a single enthalpy economizer above except this accessory contains two enthalpy sensors. It uses a differential enthalpy control that compares the outdoor air versus the return air. The logic module then optimizes the economizer operation for additional savings over the single input economizer. The fixed outdoor air damper (shipped as standard equipment with every unit) can be used for barometric relief on units with an economizer. MOTORIZED AIR DAMPER • Includes slide -in / plug -in damper assembly with 2- position spring - return motor actuator and a rainhood with permanent -type filters. The outdoor air dampers open when the indoor fan motor is energized. The rainhood is shipped knocked down and must be field assembled. ELECTRIC HEATERS - Include nickel chromium elements, a terminal block, fuses (where required by UL), all the necessary connectors and hardware. All heaters utilize single point power supply hookup. Capacities of 9, 18, 36 and 54 KW heating are available. FUSE BLOCK KIT - This kit contains a fuse block including the fuses and is available for the 9 and 18 KW 460 -volt heater kits. This kit satisfies the Chicago code requirements. 10 ROOF CURB - This 14" high full perimeter roof curb is shipped knocked down for field assembly. Its duct supports and Insulated condensing section deck can be reversed to connect the ductwork on the opposite end. LOW AMBIENT KIT - Head pressure controllers maintain stable operation by reducing the speed of the condenser fan motors when the outdoor temperature is between 45 and 0 °F. Condenser fan motors with ball bearings and heavier windings are available for these low ambient applications. ANTI- RECYCLE TIMER - A timer to prevent unit compressors from short cycling. It assures a 5- minute "off -time" between compressor cycles. PROPANE CONVERSION KIT - Converts a gas -fired heater from natural gas to propane. It contains main burner orifices, a pilot orifice and a gas valve. GAS PIPING - This kit contains 3/4" pipe nipples, fittings and gas cock (including panel access gaskets) required for bottom gas supply connection with external shut -off. HIGH ALTITUDE CONVERSION (NATURAL AND PROPANE) - Provides orifices for proper furnace operation at attitudes up to 6,000 ft. For propane applications, the propane conversion kit will also be required. WALL THERMOSTAT- The units are designed to operate with 24 -volt electronic and electro- mechanical thermostats. The units were designed for residential and light commercial applications. They can easily be installed on a roof curb, slab, roof jack or frame. All units are self - contained and assembled on rigid full perimeter base rails with fork lift slots on three sides and holes for overhead rigging. Every unit Is completely piped, wired, charged and tested at the factory to provide for a quick and easy field installation. The units are available in cooling only, and cooling with gas heat. Electric heaters are available as field - installed accessories. Both bottom and side duct connections are available without having to swap panels. The Installer simply removes the duct covers for the desired configuration. Economizers may be used on either bottom and side duct applications with no modifications required. All models Include a 5 -year limited warranty on compressors and electric heating elements, a 10 -years limited warranty on gas -fired heat exchangers and a 1 -year limited warranty on all replacement parts. FEATURES COMMON FOOTPRINT /COMMON CABINET - All model sizes and configurations share a common cabinet and a common roof curb. The installer has the flexibility of setting one curb and placing the proper tonnage unit on that curb after the internal load has been determined. He can even decide between gas or electric heat after the curb has been set. HIGH EFFICIENCY - All units have a high cooling efficiency, and gas / electric models have a minimum AFUE of 79 %. All efficiencies exceed legislated minimum levels and provide low operating costs. CONVERTIBLE AIRFLOW DESIGN - Both the side and bottom duct openings are covered when they leave the factory. If a side supply / side return is desired, you simply remove the two side duct covers from the outside of the unit and discard them. if a bottom supply / bottom return is desired, you simply remove the two knockout panels from the base of the unit and discard them. No panel cutting or swapping is required! Convertible airflow design allows maximum field flexibility and minimum Inventory. Cont'd. All units have dual compressors and dual independent refrigeration circuits. The units were designed for light commercial applications and can easily be installed on a roof curb, slab, roof jack or frame. All units are self- contained and assembled on rigid full perimeter base rails allowing for 3 -way fork lift access and overhead rigging. Every unit is com- pletely charged, wired, piped and tested at the factory to provide for a quick and easy field instal- lation. The units are available in the following configurations: cooling only and cooling with gas heat. Electric heaters are available as field- Installed accessories. Both down and side discharge airflows are available without having to swap panels. The Installer simply removes the duct covers for the desired configura- tion. Economizers may be used on either side or down discharge applications with no modifications required. All models include a 1 -year limited warranty on the complete unit. Compressors and electric heater elements each carry an additional 4 -year warranty. Aluminized steel tubular heat exchangers carry an additional 9 -year warranty. FEATURES COMMON FOOTPRINT / COMMON CABINET - All model sizes and configurations share the exact same footprint cabinet - and therefore the same root curb. You now have the flexibility of setting one curb and, after the internal load has been determined, placing the proper tonnage unit on that curb, You can even decide between cooling only or gas heat after the curb has been set. HIGH EFFICIENCY - All units have a minimum EER of 8.90. Gas / electric units have electronic spark ignition and power vented combustion with a minimum AFUE of 79.0 %. These efficiencies ex- ceed all legislated minimum levels and provide low operating costs. CONVERTIBLE AIRFLOW DESIGN - Both the side and bottom duct openings are covered when they leave the factory. If a side supply / side return is desired, you simply remove the two side duct covers from the outside of the unit and discard them. If a bottom supply / return is desired, you simply remove the two bottom duct covers and discard them. No panel cutting or swapping is required! Convertible airflow design allows maximum field flexibility and minimum inventory. Cont'd. LYNWOOD, WA 98036 PROJECT: NON -STOP BAR & GRILL PROJECT NUMBER: 93096 KVAMME CONSULTING ENGINEERING DESIGN T /1/13 EXPIRES 10/23/ .¢ I Mr Stephens, Per your request, I have performed an on -site review of the locations for the new mechanical roof units and have performed calculations for these additions. Per these calculations, the following items must be performed. 1. The 3 -ton unit at the card room/kitchen area will be placed over existing 2x6 rafters. These rafters must be doubled where the unit Is bearing so that there are (2) 2x6 @ 16" on center. 2. The 5 & 7 ton units placed directly over the 6x6 tube steel columns at the pool/dart area are acceptable without any structural change below. 3. The 7 ton unit at the dining room area will be placed over a 4" purlln member over a 4x14 main beam and will be placed directly over a 4" steel pipe column at the middle of the 4x14 beam span. The beams are acceptable at this area but the 4x14 beam must be shored up to match the top of the upper purlin beam so that there is continuous support in both directions as I discussed with Dale from Loadstar. If you have any questions on this or any other project, please feel free to call me. RECEIVED CITY OF TUKWILA SINCERELY, JUL 28 1993 PERMIT CENTER DALE A.
