BACKGROUND Jim Haggerton, Mayor The 2010 Washington State Legislature provided $54,609,000 for local governments covered by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase I and II Stormwater permits. This funding will be used to implement competitive and non- competitive grant programs. For the non competitive program, each eligible jurisdiction will receive funding based on their population. Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE) has notified Tukwila that it has been identified for a $118,485.00 grant from the non competitive program. A Grant Acceptance Intent Notice must be returned to DOE by July 2, 2010. Staff has reviewed the requirements for this funding and determined that we have proposed projects currently programmed that meet the eligibility requirements for this non competitive grant. Matching funds are not required. Utilities Committee is asked to approve submission of the required Grant Acceptance Intent Notice to the DOE. An agreement template will be available by June 30, 2010, on the Ecology Water Quality page for your review prior to signing. All funds must be obligated in the grant agreement and spent by June 30, 2012. If you are unable to use this grant offer, please inform Ecology in writing as soon as possible, so that all available funds can be redistributed to eligible Phase I and II communities.
