Ms. Jackson described the proposed project and queried if it was required to obtain a building permit for the project. You had indicated that a building permit was not required but you did request a letter from the engineer. The purpose of this letter is to meet that request. The bead blast room dust collector machine will be installed on the existing Unit Repair building roof as shown on the contract drawings. The dust collector machine is a Torit Model 84 cabinet type with 48" height by 28" width by 28" depth dimensions, and weighs 380 pounds (approximately equivalent to 2 people). Copies of the dust collector data sheets are attached for your information. Considering the size and weight of the selected dust collector machine, the provision of a nominal 8" diameter duct penetration opening, and the structural capacity of the existing Unit Repair building, the project will not adversely impact the building's roof structure. Please attach this letter to the mechanical permit application submitted by Miller Sheetmetal, Inc., Permit No. M92 -0022. Mr. Ken Nelson January 27, 1992 Page Two If you have any questions, please feel free to call Merdad Shaverdian at 684 -2023 or the undersigned at 684 -1706. Very truly yours, Cloyd Jack P.E. Project Engineer CJ:jym /mskA attachment cc: Merdad Shaverdian - 117 • EFFICIENT DESIGN Torit's cabinet dust collectors cover a wide range of dust applications. Accessories are available to meet a variety of your dust collection needs. With the fan on the clean air side, dust and other collected material are filtered out by the fabric filter before reaching the fan, resulting in long, reliable performance. Models 50 through 80 are easily portable, providing you the flexibility to move the collector wherever it is needed. Their small footprints mean they can be placed close to critical machinery using little valuable floor space. J EXCELLENT FILTRATION CAPABILITY The envelope filters used in Torit's cabinet model dust collectors provide you with very high collection efficiencies, trapping dust particles of all sizes, including those smaller than one micron. They are rated at 99.9 %+ collection efficiency by weight even with high concentrations of sub micron particles in the airstream. LOWERS ENERGY COSTS The highly efficient filtration of the Torit cabinet collectors allows you to recirculate heated or cooled plant air. This translates directly to lower energy costs. EASY CLEANING Most collected dust settles immediately into the pull out dust drawer or hopper base. Manually operating the filter shaker easily dislodges dust that clings to the fabric filters. 150 SERIES CABINET 60 SERIES CABINET 70 SERIES CABINET 80 SERIES CABINET NUMBER OF FILTERS 24 24 24 30 FILTER DIMENSIONS 12.3/4" x 7-1/2" 18.314" x 10-1/2" 18-3/4" x 20.1/2" 18 -3/4" x 20-1/2" ACTUAL FILTER AREA 30 SOFT. 60 SOFT. 120 SO.FT. 150 SOFT. Dust Storage Efficiency in one neat, compact, self- contained unit TORIT's large selection of cabinet -style fabric filter dust collectors gives you the kind of flexibility needed in today's rapidly changing technology. These models have a range of from 171 CFM up to 8000 CFM. Storage capabilities run from 0.34 cubic feet to 500 cubic feet. And fabric filter areas range from 30 to 1,200 square feet. On models with less than a 300 - square -foot filter area, pull -out drawers, large- capacity hopper -type bases and 55- gallon drum arrangements are offered. Available with a number of power packages and other options, the modular design and small space require- ments make them quick to install and easy to move. Designed for effectiveness These welded steel cabinet systems house motor and blower on the clean -air side, eliminating the risk of fan loading, motor damage and the ultimate time - consuming expensive repairs. Overall collection efficiencies exceed +99.9% by weight, on both heavy chips and fine particulate. This kind of efficiency makes it possible to recirculate the cleaned air in- doors, where allowable, saving on costly heated or conditioned air. Cleaning simplicity TORIT fabric filter dust collectors are also easy to empty and easy to clean, whether dust - drawer, hop- per -type or 55- gallon drum arrangement. Particles clinging to the filter bags are easily dislodged by actuating the manual filter shaker handle. Fully - automatic filter cleaning is available as an option on all models. 16 good reasons to think TORIT cabinet collector systems There are sixteen basic models in TORIT's fabric filter cabinet line. Others are available as variations of these models. Please check the cabinet model sec -' tion of TORIT's full -line catalog for a complete listing. Or talk to a TORIT representative. Many optional variations in locations, number and size of inlets are available. For additional information, request bulletin by product model number. *Ratings are determined with new clean filters. After a series of dust loadings, performance will recover to approximately 80% of rated cfm upon shaking.
