"Mechanical Permit Fee Worksheet" must accompany this permit application. Handouts are available at the Building
counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements. Application and
plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or
contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent
to submit this permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION The valuation Is for the work covered by this permit and must be filled in by the
applicant. This figure is used for budget reporting purposes only and not to calculate your fees.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of
application shall expire by limitation. The Building Official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a
period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform
Mechanical Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once.

The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. H.V.A.C. units rated at 2,000 cfm require
auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately
zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station
supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1528)
All new fire alarm systems or modifications to
existing systems shall have the written approval of
The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau. No work shall
commence until a fire department permit has been
obtained. (City Ordinance #1528) (UFC 10.503)
Call the Tukwila Fire Department at 575 -4404 for
approval of any system shut down. Have job site
address, name, and the Tukwila Fire Department Job
Number available to confirm shut down approval. (City

This tenant improvement is in the area of the Southcenter
Mall expansion and is subject to the reqmts. for smoke
evacuation under Chapter 56 of the U.B.C. Consequently,
they will be installing smoke detectors in the tenant area
in addition to the smoke detector in the HVAC unit for
automatic shut off.
The smoke detector(s) in the tenant space are required to be
connected to the fire management system of the main mall at
the control room. Alarm from these detectors set off a
sequence of operations which eventually activate the smoke
exhaust fan in the tenant space.
Building will make acceptance of this portion of the smoke
evacuation system a condition of final inspection approval.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SMOKE EXHAUST FROM THE
TENANT SPRINKLER ZONE. (EXHAUST REQUIREMENTS ARE SPELLED
OUT IN THE CODE FOR THE MALL AREA BUT NOT TENANT SPACE).
ANS: NO REQUIREMENTS STATED IN CODE, BUT HVAC SYSTEM MUST GO
TO 100% EXHAUST. THEREFORE, THE PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT FOR
AN EXHAUST FAN PROPOSED FOR SMOKE EVACUATION, WOULD BE (AT
MINIMUM) EQUAL TO THE OUTSIDE AIR SUPPLY AS PROVIDED FOR THE
