I Rec.* No.: C Model 580C RECEIVED CITY OF TUKWILA AUG 1 8 1992 DESCRIPTION Model 580C gas heating / electric cooling rooftop units are de- signed to deliver optimum performance and reliability in a com- mercial rooftop unit. The low profile, compact size permits easy shipment, rigging and installation. The 580C 3 to 12 ton sizes are one -piece gas heating, elec- tric cooling units that are prewired and precharged with R -22 at the factory, making jobsite installation easy. The units are fac- tory tested in both heating and cooling modes. These units are designed to be field convertible from vertical supply /return to horizontal supply /return, making the 580C easily adaptable to a wide variety of new construction and replacement applications. For vertical supply /return jobs, ductwork can be connected di- rectly to the roof curb, allowing ductwork to be completed be- fore unit is available for installation. All units include easily replaceable Internal filters. The 580C units are available in a range of heating sizes and voltage options to meet most job requirements. These models are easily installed, whether at ground level or on a rooftop. All 580C models are listed with UL (Underwriters' Laboratories), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), ARI (Air - Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute) and the CEC (California Energy Commission). STANDARD FEATURES HIGH - EFFICIENCY DESIGN means year -round heating and cooling energy savings. Units have SEERs (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios) up to 10.30 and EERs (Energy Efficiency Ratios) to 9.15. The 580C units have an AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating of up to 80 %, with a steady -state efficiency of up to 80% and a California Seasonal Efficiency rate of 75.8% or better. THE FACTORY - ASSEMBLED PACKAGE is a compact, fully self- contained combination gas heating /electric cooling unit that Is prewired, prepiped and precharged for minimum installation expense. UNITS ARE EASILY CONVERTED from vertical to horizontal supply and return. The same basic unit can be quickly modified at the jobsite to fit a variety of applications. INTERNAL RETURN -AIR FILTERS — Two -in. disposable fil- ters are standard on all units and can be easily accessed through the filter access panel. There is no need to field - fabricate filter racks or install external filter accessories. RUGGED, EFFICIENT COMPRESSORS are designed for en- ergy efficiency. Each compressor is hermetically sealed against contamination to help promote longer life and dependable op- eration, and is vibration isolated to provide quiet operation. COMPRESSOR PROTECTION — Each compressor is pro- tected with internal temperature and current - sensitive overload. Internal high pressure and loss -of- charge protection is provided which protects against abnormal compressor operating pres- sure or inadequate charge in each refrigerant circuit. Compres- sors also have crankcase heater(s) to keep compressor oil warm and improve compressor reliability. DUAL COMPRESSORS AND DUAL REFRIGERATION CIR- CUITS (7% to 12 ton units) -- Two hermetic compressors, each on its own independent circuit, provide standby reliability and high operating efficiency. REFRIGERANT STRAINER ASSEMBLY in the liquid line of each circuit traps any dirt in the system to prevent plugging of metering orifices for trouble -free operation. FIXED - ORIFICE REFRIGERANT METERING DEVICES on each circuit precisely control refrigerant flow, preventing slugging and floodback, while maintaining optimum unit performance. REFRIGERANT SYSTEM is designed to provide dependability. Liquid refrigerant strainers are used to promote clean, unre- stricted operation. Each unit leaves the factory with a full refrig- erant charge. Refrigerant service connections on suction, liquid and discharge lines make checking operating pressures easier. Gage port access allows system pressures to be checked with- out removing unit panels. TOTALLY ENCLOSED CONDENSER -FAN MOTOR with aerodynamically designed fan orifice permits operation at low sound levels. Vertical condenser -fan discharge carries sound and air up and away. EASY -TO- SERVICE ELECTRO- MECHANICAL CONTROL SYSTEM features controls which are easy to troubleshoot, sav- ing service expenses and providing reliable operation. The con- trol system is readily adaptable to most conventional and electronic programmable thermostats and can be easily inte- grated Into energy management systems. POWER, CONTROL AND GAS CONNECTIONS are made on the same side of the unit to simplify installation. INDUCED -DRAFT COMBUSTION provides the exact amount of combustion air for the most efficient operation. Induced -draft combustion also eliminates the flue stack, giving the unit a low profile appearance. The draw - through design ensures safe op- eration under any conditions. MONOPORT INSHOT BURNERS produce a precise air -to -gas mixture, giving a clean burning flame. The single port on the in- shot burners seldom, If ever, needs cleaning. DIRECT -SPARK IGNITION SYSTEM saves operating expense by eliminating inefficient pilot ignition and annoying service calls. "• Form No. PDS 580C.36.2P C C SEER Improvement Relay — A 30- second time delay which can be mounted in the unit control box to keep the fan on for 30 seconds after a calf for cooling is satisfied. SUGGESTED USE: • To improve the SEER rating of units under 5 tons. WeatherprobeTM II Device — Kit consists of a solid -state con- trol and condenser coil temperature sensor to cycle the condenser -fan motors in order to maintain condenser -coil head pressure for proper cooling operation. SUGGESTED USE: • Whenever cooling is required at low outdoor ambient temper- atures (between 25 F and -20 F). • Weatherprobe II device is not usually required when econo- mizer is used. 5800 — Single Package High - Efficiency Gas/ Electric Unit Voltage Designation B — 230.1.60 E — 460.3.60 J — 208/230.1 -60 P — 208/230-3-60 T — 575-3-60 Natural Gas /Direct Spark Ignition Nominal Tons 036 — 3 048 -4 060 — 5 072 — 6 000 —7 1/2 102 —81/2 120 —10 150 —121/2 580C E V 090 CONTENTS Page Model Description 3 Dimensional Drawings 4 -7 Specifications 8 9 Heating Capacities and Efficiencies 10 ARI Capacities 10 Selection Procedure 11 Gross Cooling Capacities 12 -14 Air Delivery 15 -22 Electrical Data 24 Operating Sequence 25 Typical Field Wiring 26,27 Typical Installation 28 Application Data 29,30 Engineers' Specification Guide 31,32 MODEL DESCRIPTION (ODS Model Number) 180 AB A LEGEND •'"" ODS - Order Distribution System "See Specifications table for available evaporator -fan motor /unit combinations. 3 Low NO Kit — Consists of baffles to be inserted In the heat exchanger tubes to reduce the level of nitric oxide emissions to 40 nanograms per joule. Seattle, WA 98134 RE: Power Engineering H.V.A.C. Plan check number M92 -0161 Dear Schaus: After an initial review of subject project, it has been determined that additional information be submitted to complete the plan review. Please address the following comments. 1. Weight of roof mounted equipment requires a structural analyses at minimum to qualify its proposed load on the roof. 2• Any structural engineering calculation summaries or conclusions must be reflected on architectural drawings. Engineering must be signed by a Washington State Licensed Engineer, qualified to practice the designated work. 3. Are any additional ventilation fans or other mechanical equipment proposed to be installed ? Please confirm you have received these comments by contacting this office and /or submit revisions within ten working days. Feel free to call me if there are any questions, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 431 -3670.
