Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. Exit doors shall not be locked, chained, bolted, barred, latched or otherwise rendered unusable. All locking devices shall be of an approved type. (UFC 12.106(c)) (Freezer exit) 2. A Whitman Company Hussmann Corporation 7272 — 1st Avenue South Seattle, WA 98108 (206) 763-9050 (800) 562 -8363 ArchitectAl Profile FOR FIBERGLASS, POLYSTYRENE AND POLYURETHANE FOAM -IN -PLACE WALK -IN COOLERS AND FREEZERS 1.0 • General 1.1 Hussmann Walk -ins are prefabricated metal clad and sectionally constructed for accurate field erec- tion with provisions for ease of disassembly for future expansion or reconfiguration. 1.2 The length and width of Hussmann Walk -ins are the same as specified by the equipment planner (nominal dimensions are not used). 1.3 Standard inside heights are 7' -03/4", 8'- 0M /4 ", 9'03/4" and 10'- 0 ". Special heights are available upon request up to 20' -0" high using foam -in -place poly- urethane and up to 30' -0" high using fiberglass and polystyrene. Note: Panel stacking is not required to achieve these heights. 1.4 The maximum clear roof spans are 16' -0" for 3 thick panels, 16' -0" for 4" thick foam -in -place poly- urethane panels, and 20' -0" for 51/2" and 73/4" thick panels. Beyond the lengths specified either interior or exterior support is required. 1.5 Hussmann- Seattle is a U.L. and N.S.F. listed manufacturer. 2.0 • Modular Panel Construction — Roof and Wall. 2.1 The modular panels consist of interior and exterior metal pans which are precisely formed to assure constant uniformity and interchangeability. 2.2 Available insulations include: semi -rigid fiber- glass, rigid polystyrene, and foam -in -place polyurethane. 2.3 Panel frames are available in both KD hem /fir wood or high density molded polyurethane. 2.4 Panel sections are fastened together with steel cam action locks located on center lines not to exceed 48 ". Locks are actuated from inside of walk -in with a hex wrench furnished with each order. NSF approved color coordinated snap action cap plugs are provided to close wrench holes. Note: Alternate lag -down roof to wall panel assembly is available upon request. Panel to panel alignment is maintained by alignment dowel pins which are located between each cam lock device. 2.5 Interior and exterior panel joints are sealed with N.S.F. approved extruded vinyl bead gaskets which are fastened in place to maintain alignment and form an air tight seal. 2.6 To provide adequate ventilation, a minimum air space of 3" between exterior surface of Walk -in and building walls must be provided. 2.7 Factory outdoor sloped roofs are available with 1 ft. overhang up to 20' -0" single span or 40' -0" two -way double span. 3.0 • Factory Floors 3.1 Floor sections are constructed in accordance with roof and wall specifications. Exterior surfaces are covered with metal skins. Interior surface is covered with 3 /4" exterior glued CDX fir plywood and will support uniformly distributed loads up to 500 P.S.F. 3.2 Interior floor finishes include non -skid metal surface, diamond tread plate or water tight heavy guage steel with field welded joints. 3.3 Exterior or interior ramps are available and are constructed for medium duty foot traffic or heavy duty industrial truck applications. Note: Floorless Walk -in units are supplied with either pressure treated alignment spline or N.S.F. approved vinyl screed and set on building floor or concrete curb as supplied by customer. 4.0 • Door /Door Section 4.1 Contemporary heavy duty plug type construction. 4.2 Standard door opening widths are 36 ", 42 ", 48 ", 54 ", and 60" x 84" high. Additional sizes available upon request. 4.3 The Low Temperature Walk -in jambs are provided with protected thermostatically controlled heater cable to provide sufficient heat to prevent conden- sation or frost formation. 4.4 A closed cell gasket is attached along the top and sides of the door leaf. The bottom edge of the door contains a double seal adjustable wiper gasket. All gaskets are resistant to oil, fat, water and sunlight. 4.5 Door frames are protected with heavy gauge jamb guards. The exterior door face is protected with 6" steel kick plate. Both are a Hussmann standard. Kick plates up to 36" or 48" high are available for both faces of the door leaf upon request. 4.6 The latch is a heavy duty snap- action design with adjustable strike and is built to accommodate a padlock and includes an inside palm- actuated safety release to prevent entrapment. The latch is constructed of high strength polished aluminum. Polished chrome plated latches are available upon request. 4.7 Doors are furnished with 18" or 24" strap type cam -lift hinges with steel pin and nylon bearing. Hinges are constructed of heavy gauge steel and are bright zinc dipped.
