EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit Is issued within 100 days following the date of
application shall expire by limitation. The Building Official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a
period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform

Subgrade preparation including drainage, excavation, compaction,
and fill requirements shall conform strictly with recommendations
given in the soils report prior to final inspection (see attached
procedure.).
A statement from the roofing contractor verifying fire retardancy
of roof will be required prior to final inspection (see attached
procedure).

All food preparation establishments oust have King County Health
Department sign -off prior to opening or doing any food processing.
Arrangements for final Health Dspertosnt inspection should be lads
by calling King County Health Department, 296 -4717, at least three
working days prior to desire inspection date. On work requiring
Health Department approval, it is the contractor's responsibility
to have a set of plans approved by that agency on the fob site.
Fire retardant treated wood shall have a flans spread of not over
25. All materials shall bear identification showing the fire
performance rating thereof. Such identification shall be issued
by an approved agency having a service for inspection at the
factory.
Notify the City of Tukwila Building Division prior to placing any
concrete. This procedure is in addition to any requirements for
special Inspection.

1.1 Kenworth Truck Company Terms and Conditions and
Additional Terms and Conditions are a part of this
specification.

1.2 Kenworth Truck Company Safety Regulations are a part of
this specification and will be enforced.
1.3 The Contractor shall confine his personnel and
equipment to the immediate work area.
1.4 All work affecting plant operations, such as, but not
limited to, demolition, trenching, concrete work,
piping, plumbing, electrical connections, etc.; shall
be completed during 2nd and /or 3rd shift hours, 3:00
p.m. to 6:00 a.m., or on the weekend. The Contractor
shall adjust his work to accommodate plant operations.
1.5 The Contractor shall provide all necessary equipment
and utilities to complete the project. Use of Kenworth
utilities such as air, water, electricity, etc. will be
allowed provided all temporary connections are made by
the Contractor at his expense and this use does not
interfere with plant operations. Use of Kenworth
equipment such as manlifts, forklifts, cranes, tools,
etc. will not be allowed.
2.1 The Contractor shall supply all labor, equipment and
material, unless otherwise specified, to fabricate and
install the exhaust duct, fans, support structure,
electric power connection, disconnect, and controls as
shown on drawing V's K191D1707, TEC # 866, TEC #
MD8005, and as outlined in pages 1 through 6 of this
document.
._ 2.2 All work shall be performed to the latest applicable
1988 UBC, UFC, UMC, NEC codes and standards. All work
shall be performed by appropriately skilled labor to
meet these codes.
2.3 The Contractor will come prepared with OSHA approved
fire blankets and extinguishers to be used around all
welding operations where necessary to prevent fire
hazard. Welding permit shall be obtained from KENWORTH.
2.4 Three complete sets of equipment manuals and parts list .
with vendor information to be provided by Contractor to
Project Engineer after work is completed.

2.5 Contractor will perform trouble shooting of entire
installation to assure proper operation of exhaust
system for production use.
2.6 Contractor will obtain all required permits ie.
Mechanical, Electrical, and PSAPCA. Contractor will
schedule all inspections required to complete permits.
3.0 Technical Provisions - Mechanical
3.1 As used in this specification or as used in any
standard specification referred to herein, the words
"or equal" shall mean only those brand names and
numbers which have been approved by the Owner and
incorporated into this Contract prior to the time the
contractor starts the performance of the work except as
set forth in this contract.
3.2 Contractor to follow specifications 1 through 11 on TEC
#866 sheet 3 with the following addendums.
3.3 Exhaust fan to be supplied shall be capable of 3255 CFM
at 1/2" SP with 2 HP motor. Ref specifications on TEC
#866 sheet 1 & 3.
3.4 Exhaust duct type & sizes per K191D1707 ie. aluminized
steel not required and some rectangular duct shown on
TEC #866 has been changed to round duct.
3.5 Contractor to install pressure differential switch like
Dwyer #1823: Contractor to verify pressure range of
switch is compatible with system. Contractor to install
switch in a manner such that it is easily removed for
maintenance.
3.6 Dampers shown on drawings should be of the slide gate
type which can be fastened into fixed position for
system balancing.
3.7 The fan and motor shall be supported by 2 "x2 "xl /8"
square tube frame work. Contractor will provide fan
isolators and flexible duct as required.
3.8 Contractor responsible for obtaining any required
dimensions not included on drawings. Contractor will
supply all parts required for complete fan installation
and assure dynamically balanced fan and motor
operation.

3.9 All ducting above roof line shall be constructed from
galvanized carbon steel. The section of duct used to
support the zero loss rain cap should be 14 gage.
3.10 Roof penetration to be of weather tight construction
like that shown on page 6 of this specification.
3.11 Vertical & horizontal duct fabricated per UMC chapter
10 and supported per Table 10 -E.
3.12 Metal chimneys (UMC Sec. 914) for industrial type low

4.0 Technical Provisions - Electrical
4.1 Conduit shall be of the rigid type up to 10 feet above
the floor. Above 10 feet conduit shall be Electrical
Metallic Tubing. Fittings shall be of the Compression
type for both rigid and EMT conduit. Sizing of the
conduit shall comply with the National Electric Code
for an ambient temperature of 50 C.
4.2 Wiring shall be type THHN, THW, or THWN cooper.
Ambient operating temperature is 50 C. All wire to be
of stranded construction. All wires and devices to be
labeled per TEC engineering drawings. Three phase power
to be color coded with brown, orange, and yellow wire.
4.3 A non fused service disconnect for fan motor shall be a
Square D HU series rated at 480 VAC, 3 phase, 60 hz, 30
amps and mounted within 3 feet of motor.
4.4 480 3 phase and 120 VAC power is available at existing
control panel and space is available inside panel to
wire power and controls for new system.
4.5 The fan control circuit will be wired so the exhaust
fan is interlocked with air pressure switches and gas
burner control circuits per TEC 1886 6 1MD8005.
4.6 Motor control components to be Square D or Allen
Bradley. Existing motor starter and fuse block are
available in control panel for contractors use.

.7: Contractor will perform testing and trouble - shooting of
installed circuits for correct burner and ventilation
system operation.
:Technical Provisions - Paint 6 Sealing
5.1 Paint scheme: all exposed duct and support steel below
14 foot truss line paint KENWORTH EVERGREEN, above
truss paint WHITE, outside installation paint SILVER.
Prepainted parts like fan housing and belt guards may .
be left original color. Paint schedule 40 pipe BLACK.
5.2 Required surface prep and paint on galvanized material
is copper sulfate etch followed by coat wash primer
GALVAPREP and topped with appropriate finish paint.
5 .3 All duct sections to be sealed between flanges as
specified inTEC #866 sheet 3 item 6.
Scheduling and Completion
6 .1 Shut down of the cab washer for system installation
work may take place on 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts.
The cab washer must . be operational for the " following
:production shift.
6.2 In the event that additional labor or,material costs
must be incurred by the Contractor to complete this
project because of an omission or conflict within' this
the charges listed on page one may
adjusted after consultation with the Project Engineer.
