Dear Mr. Hill,
We have received additional information for the proposed residential addition
and have reviewed it for compliance with the 1982 edition of the Uniform
Building Code. Our comments follow:
1. Call out species and grade of framing lumber: DF /L or HF /N for species,
#1 or #2 for grade.
2. Foundation wall depth appears to be inadequate. Building is considered
two - story.
3. Deck joists are inadequate where they are cantilevered and have other
members framing into them. This occurs at the northwest corner of the
building and at the 4' -0" section of deck which extends around the stair-
way addition.
4. At the northeast corner of the deck, a beam is called out to be flush with
the joist. If this occurs, the joist cannot be cantilevered. Please
clarify.
5. Simpson BG4 appears to be overstressed.
6. Call out size of balisters.
