Guaranteed reliability with minimal effort to attach to vehicle! Designed for maximum efficiency while providing a "user friendly" extraction system, here is how the system operates: 1 . When the vehicle is at rest, the nozzle sleeves over the tailpipe. With specially designed inner friction points on the nozzle, a unique tension is accomplished when attaching the electromagnet to an anchor disc on the vehicle. The nozzle stays firmly in place. 2. As the vehicle begins to move out of the building, the entire nozzle and hose assembly travels with the vehicle. This is accomplished by, a.) the powerful electromagnet's attachment to the anchor disc on the vehicle while, b.) the uniquely engineered overhead guide rail (which mounts the horizontal portion of the exhaust hose) allows a smooth expansion of the com- pressed hose. The exhaust extraction system is designed for vehicles with allotted parking places, such as fire fighting ve- hicles, buses and commercial trucks. By placing the nozzle over the tailpipe as the vehicle re-enters the building, the indoor environment is guaranteed to be free of harmful exhaust fumes. The vertical exhaust hose stays close to the side of the vehicle; safe and out of the way. 3. As the vehicle tailpipe is now near the door thresh- old, the micro - switch located on the balancer contacts a striker plate (bolted on the guide rail) which de- energizes the electromagnet, causing it to fall away from the anchor disc. In a split second, the lower hose loses the tension on the nozzle (described in 1), and the nozzle comes away from the tailpipe. 4. The balancer can now pull the entire vertical sec- tion of hose away from the vehicle, and store it in a hanging position off the floor, ready to be re- mounted as the vehicle returns. Upon return, the nozzle sleeves over the tailpipe and the electromagnet is attached to the anchor disc. The entire assembly now travels with the vehicle to the parked position. An e extracti0 Clamping Bracket Micros witch, cuts power supply to electromagnet at predetermined point. Balancer lifts hose away after separation from vehicle exhaust pipe. Nozzle, no mechanical connector parts, allows gentle but quick separation from exhaust pipe. An easy -to -use exhaust extraction system that operates "magnetically". Clamping Bracket Balancer lifts hose away after separation from vehicle exhaust pipe. C Nozzle, no mechanical connector parts, allows gentle but quick separation from exhaust pipe. Horizontal Guide Rail C Connector, connects sys- tem to extraction duct. Rectifier, for 24V electro- magnet power supply. Hose, 6" diameter. Opera- ting temperature 340° F (370°F short runs only.) Temperature should be carefully monitored during long term engine testing, etc. Magnetic Anchor Disc, mounted on vehicle. Electromagnet, holds the hose and nozzle in place. As vehicle is driven away, the low voltage electromagnet cuts out and the exhaust extractor hose falls gently away. Equipped with manual override switch. Recommended distance from floor to underside of mounting section, 10 to 16 feet. Product Range Choice of three standard lengths complete with components described on previous page. The fan and transformer (24V, 75VA) are not included in basic package. Fan Connection Exhaust fume ventilation systems must be equipped with a fan or be connected to a central fan unit. For best results, each extractor hose assembly should be equipped with its own fan that automatically starts up as the garage doors open and stops as the garage doors close. Providing the length of duct after the horizontal hose is not excessively long, a Nederman N24 series fan is ideal for this purpose. For More Information... No. 13 -1 General SIMPLE EXHAUST EXTRACTORS technical description Nederman Exhaust Extractors are simple economic systems for the extraction of exhaust fumes from all kinds of vehicles. They can be equipped with a Nederman fan or connected directly to existing ventilation systems. The hose is suspended from a simple suspension device or from a balancer as shown below. The extractors are equipped with crush -proof hoses which are easy to handle and suspended in a way which reduces hose wear. The temperature resistance of the hose is 300 °F continuous use. The Extractors are available in two main models. Single Extractors and Double Extractors. Single Extractors with a balancer can be supplied with automatic disconnection of the nozzle from the exhaust pipe. To reduce energy consumption, this model can be supplied with a limit switch which automatically stops the fan when the hose reaches its resting position. Michigan Simple System Most fire stations have problems with engine exhaust build -up. Whether you're running gasoline or diesel trucks, you could be expos- ing yourself and your people to harmful fumes. Nederman Clean Air Systems offer simple, easy -to -use solutions. And what's more, Nederman offers emergency response vehicle exhaust extraction systems in three config- urations, to fit different exhaust types and different fire station layouts. So no matter what type of emer- gency vehicle setup you're operat- ing, Nederman has a Clean Air System to fit your needs. The Nederman Simple System is most applicable for vehicles with side exhausts which back into and pull out of fire station bays. Simply connect the hose directly to the tailpipe. The hose automatically disconnects when the vehicle leaves the building. 'Fans are available as accessories. Exhaust fail System f is Nederman Exhaust Rail System is tilar in operation to the Simple 'vstem, with one important addition: A rail allows the hose assembly to move. The longer the rail, the more mobility the hose assembly has. The Exhaust Rail System is designed for vehicles with side exhausts that must drive through fire station bays; or back to back vehicles. The rail allows the hose assembly to move with the vehicle while it's still inside, releasing automatically as soon as the vehicle leaves the station. The features of Nederman's Exhaust Rail System include: • For single bay or back to back drive through applications. • Exhaust Extraction Rail system ducts fumes directly out of the station. • Nozzle made of durable EPDM rubber with inlet guard, is held in place by a clamping device. n Lower 6 ft. of hose is crushproof. The Hidden Hazards of Engine Exhaust Whether you're operating gasoline or diesel- powered vehicles, engine exhaust fumes could be a problem. Most fire stations, regardless of the type of vehi- cle or setup, could be creating a hazard if their emergency response vehicles are run indoors even for only a few seconds. The reason is that emergency vehicle bays are often in close proximity to offices, eating areas, dressing rooms and sleeping quarters. Over time, fumes can build up in undesirable areas. And studies show that prolonged breathing of diesel exhaust fumes presents a major health risk. Nederman's Clean Air Systems for emergency response vehicles provide a solution. Nederman systems connect directly to the vehicle's tailpipe. This direct connection provides maximum exhaust ventilation. And it minimizes heat loss for buildings in cold- weather climates. Nederman's unique automatic discon- nect system doesn't add to emergency response time. Simply drive away. The systems will automatically disconnect once the vehicle has exited the building. You take enough risks when you're out responding to emergencies. Stop taking risks back at the station.
