We would like to request an extension of 60 days on the subject permit. The circumstances surrounding this project involve a related permit M94 -0022 which is a remodel of the tenant space this AC unit serves. Owner delays have impacted this project until, not able to be closed during the pre - Christmas schedule, the owner is now scheduled to close for 30 days beginning on January 9, 1995. The original project did not include changing the AC unit, but did comply with 1994 Ventilation and Energy code standards in all other ways( although submitted prior to code enactment). In June, the compressor in the rooftop unit failed and this permit is to replace the condensing unit and air handler. We were prepared to do so when the mall ( Jacob's Brothers from Ohio) asserted that they had not approved the equipment charge and permission must be requested. The added delays caused by this have influenced the owner to wait for the remodel closure to replace the equipment. We are doing both projects. The equipment involved meets all energy code requirements. Please issue a 60 day extension on this permit. We will await your response. H.V.A.C. units rated at 2,000 cfm require auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1646) Smoke detectors required by Uniform Mechanical Code Section 1009 (a), (HVAC 2000 cfm and greater), shall be installed in the main return -air duct ahead of any outside air inlet or they may be installed in each room or space served by the return -air duct. Detectors shall also be installed in the supply duct, downstream of the filters. Activation of any detector shall cause the air - moving equipment to automatically shutdown. Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. (City Ordinance #1646) Duct detectors shall have the capability of being reset at the alarm panel. 2.
